I debated whether the playoffs thread would be okay for the superbowl discussion, and it probably would, but there will be various people coming into the forum who don’t normally watch football so I figured its own thread would be warranted.
I also created a superbowl commercials thread in Cafe Society, as it ends up being two different discussions anyway. But if some commercial talk ends up bleeding into here that’s okay.
I’m only watching 'cause its raining cats and dogs and there doesn’t seem to be anything else worth watching on the 10763 other channels I pay out the butt for.
First and only Pro game I’ve watched in years.
Random thought: How has Suh avoided suspension/banning from the league? Hasn’t he elevated the Cheap Shot to an Art Form?
I don’t watch a lot of football, in fact I watch exactly two games a year: the Superbowl and the Canadian equivalent, the Grey Cup.
However, I do have a question. It seems to me that if it was obvious that the QB was just throwing the ball away that intentional grounding would be called. Is intentional grounding not called any more?
If the QB is outside the tackle (usually the second guy on either side of the snapper), it’s not intentional grounding, even if it was thrown away (which Goff did in this game).
Shouldn’t the Rams have called time out at the very end of the half in order to force Brady to risk a safety again while downing the ball? That’s a fairy precarious situation and he didn’t seem to enjoy doing it.
I said the same thing. He knelt on about the 1/2 yard line on first down. Make him do it two more times. Probably nothing would happen, but it might have been interesting.
