Superdude

Hey now, lots of us are educated and can still be open-minded. There’s no reason to be anti-education.

You know, back when I was a kid I used to tease my brother a lot. When my mom told me to knock it off I would always come back with ‘but I wasn’t teasing him!’. In my 6 year old mind, that was a perfect rejoinder - you see, I couldn’t possible be teasing him because I said I’m not teasing him.

Eventually, around about 8 or so, I realized that just saying you’re not doing something annoying is really not effective at convincing people that you’re not, in fact, doing something annoying. With that in mind - you are indeed bragging. You can *say *you’re not bragging all you want, but it won’t make it true.

A person does not need an excuse for not going to university. It’s just a choice you make. If a person wants to pursue their education at a community college, they can make that choice. It doesn’t mean it’s the only choice available to them.

Why don’t you tell me what your excuse is for not having a masters degree? A PhD? Come on, the only reason is that a school won’t have you, right? What a lazy sod you must be.

Good for you.

You obviously care a whole lot what we think.

And people are arguing with you because you’re being deliberately and needlessly provocative and insulting. You’re not very good at it, but you’re trying. Do you act like this in real life?
ETA to Robot Arm - I don’t think community college is really particularly controversial. It’s just that she’s being a giant douche.

I’m not bragging. I’m answering questions people asked me and stating facts. If you feel I’m bragging, maybe you’re insecure about something or not happy in your life.

I’m sorry IMO community college is always the wrong choice.

You have the right to think I’m lazy. You have the right to an opinion. I don’t care. I’m not going to make excues for not having one at the moment.

I don’t care. There’s a lot of thing i don’t reply to. If you’re going to address me or ask a question, I’ll answer it.

Actually, you do. That’s where I learned it. Then I transferred to a four-year university, and would you believe it, they TOTALLY skipped teaching that!

Stupid Jesuits. How DARE they omit such vital information from the curriculum as “what an internet doofus thirty-five years into the future will consider a pet peeve”? Especially when a community college manages to shoehorn it in?

I know, but I used to say the same thing about shoes.

You know what guys? Why do we care what she thinks? As the age-old saying goes, don’t feed the troll.

:smack:
Sorry, poor editing in my comment back there, I meant to say You refuse, UNLIKE most educated people do these days, to accept there are more than one way to think, one way to function, you do not see that there are many paths. I spliced two sentences together and the AS replaced UNLIKE. I am not anti education, at all, I meant to say most educated people have a broader outlook than Trubie.

Oh yes, I’m so terribly insecure that 20 year old college grads make me quake in my boots! What am I to do!

If you’re done coloring your syllabus, post it online so we can all be awe spired by what you and learned from Mr. Peepers.

Go down the road, not across. I’m open minded. I learned that from an Emo dude.

Ah, gotcha. Fair enough. There are a couple of people on this board who seem to be vehemently anti-education and view university as a complete waste of time and money, one which produces only snobby elitists. So forgive me for reading that into it.

What? Seriously, neither of these make a lick of sense. Do you actually think you’re communicating with us? I can’t be the only one who doesn’t understand what you’re trying to say.

i mke LOT sense.

You’re right. Those three sentences combined are monumentally stupid. I think we can all agree.

Having said that… I, for one, do believe that I only have citizenship to make me believe country. Wait. What???

Myer read my other posts. I am all for education. Once upon a time I was going to be a history teacher, but I decided that what with a recession and all, and no jobs for teachers, I went back to school and became a nurse. Thus, I am fucking disgusting. I chose community college because I wanted to be good at nursing, not theory. Thus I am a creakhead. I have only been unemployed for 4 months in the past 12 years, so I’m something… not sure what… oh making fun of her for being a temp.

My one mistake in wording bothers me though. Gaudere’s law and all that.

Back when I took AP English ('88), being able to write coherently was a major factor in getting into the class in the first place. It would appear No Child Left Behind really was a game-changer.

Trubie left behind. Trubie sad. Boo hoo, Trubie. Boo hoo.

Hey, I’m not trying to jump on you or anything. Looking over the thread, I now realize that you were the one who posted about becoming a nurse - I did read that but for some reason didn’t associate it directly with your user name. FWIW, I would personally much rather have a nurse who had gone to community if that meant they had hands on experience. I’ve spent a good chunk of my life at university, because it matches my goals, but it really isn’t the best way to learn everything.
