It really bugged me when they took down Reign with the kryptonite injection… and then just let her fly away, despite having multiple flyers (J’onn, Kara, and the three Legionnaires) and a freakin’ spaceship. And then were happy that they’d beaten her!
Um, no, you’re right back where you were: she’s still out there, you don’t know who she is, you’ve inconvenienced her at best- and now, you don’t even have the kryptonite you used against her!
Yeah, she was telekinetically throwing those big weights at Reign to distract her when Mon-El tried to go in with the kryptonite syringe. And she created a force field/shield around Mon-El when Reign did the freezing breath thing on him.
That’s the problem with listening to a show while doing other stuff. More CW taking established characters and using only their names. Probably better I wasn’t watching, else I would have been yelling at my TV.
Saturn Girl was probably the most effective Legionnaire. She not only was throwing weights at Reign, she was also protecting the other two. Brainiac 5 couldn’t shoot straight and Mon-el was trapped in an ice bubble.
As is often the case, the worst parts of the episode were any scenes with James. His scenes with Lena are cringe-inducing. I think he has even less romantic chemistry with her than he did with Kara, and that’s saying something.
I thought that bit was well handled. He thought Supergirl was God, she got beat by Reign so obviously Reign is really God (and Reign isn’t restricted by human morals, making her even more God-like).
I see what you did there. For those who didn’t… Cosmic Boy (who has magnetic powers) is the boyfriend and eventual husband of Night Girl (who’s super strong, but only in the dark).
Is it possible the guy who worships Supergirl is planning on doublecrossing Reign to impress Kara?
In the comics (unless it’s been changed in the reboot) Saturn Girl is telepathic, not telekinetic. A telepathic attack on Reign might have been more effective. Think of Psi vs. Supergirl, at least the first time.
The Silver Age Legion never had, at least to my memory, a telekinetic. Cosmic Boy could have done that with iron/steel but that would be it. Kid Psycho came close, but he was a one-shot.
Speaking of which, there was a telepathic character fighting against Reign. Namely, J’onn J’onz, the Martian Manhunter. Why didn’t he try to get in Reign’s head?
Because telepathy and telepathic attacks are an easy out, and then one has to come up with convoluted/silly ways to block them (see Magneto’s helmet). It’s simpler, but more annoying to comic fans, to just ignore it. Just like it’s simpler to make J’onn J’onzz and Lar Gand weaker than Supergirl in order to make Supergirl seem more important, when in the comics they are both as powerful (and with J’onzz’ full range of powers, more powerful) than Supergirl. That kind of character building and development is hard, and probably would be lost on non-comic book fans. It’s not like CW is known for nuance.
ETA: Tellus’ race is/was a methane-breathing amphibian.
CW appears to have 10 hours of programming available (at least here - two hours M-F), and they’ve only got DC comic books in half of them (Supergirl, Flash, Arrow, Legends, Black Lightning), so heck, why not?
