I remember hearing rumors a while ago but nothing in a while. What’s the latest on the new movie? Last I heard Kevin SMith was going to write it, then he wasn’t. Nic Cage was being cast as Superman.
Anyone know?
The whole project was scrapped. Nic Cage contract stated that his got his money regardless if the movie was made. So, he got his wad for NOT starring in the movie.
Warner Brothers has gone through enough unproduced scripts for SUPERMAN to fill a grain silo. After the Kevin Smith/Tim Burton/Nic Cage version was shot down, there was a VERY good script called SUPERMAN: THE MAN OF STEEL – which I managed to read, and which jettisoned all that “Death of Superman” nonsense – that also didn’t get made.
NOW, the word is that Warners has signed director Wolfgang Petersen to work on what fans are calling the “World’s Finest” movie – yep, a picture starring BOTH Superman and Batman. Which almost certainly won’t get made either. But hey, at least a lot of scriptwriters are making money…
For some reason, when I read the thread title, I suddenly thought of this version of Superman…
