Supermarket items you miss

I love you , Nonacetone !!! I was specifically going to say Wheat Nuts , I love those things , and had no earthly idea they were still available !

I came to just mention those very things! I have looked and looked as an adult but alas, according to the captains web site, they no longer make them. They were the BEST with a side of puff n stuff tv.

Ohhhh…I’d love one if your serious! I miss that stuff…my e-mail is in my profile!

Sweet…jello.

Yup, that’s the only place where I knew that it ever existed. I asked one of the stockers working about a month ago, and he said that we were out (Not of Nutella, mind you, but “noo-TĀ-yuh”. As if it were espanol, and he was trying to show off how cultured he was, and how much of a peasantl4z0rn00b I was.

But we still don’t have it.

TaB Soda In glass bottles

The first thing I thought of was Raisin Biscuits mentioned by Bosda. They were made by Sunshine bakery. Man I miss those.

Already mentioned :

  • Cracklin Oat Bran. Man that stuff was great!

  • Good n Fruity. :frowning:

  • 123 Jello. I think it was discontinued because it was a real pain in the ass to get the layers to set evenly.

  • Jello Pudding Pops. I am not exaggerating when I say that every single person I have ever mentioned these to have said they loved them. They were obviously popular, so why on Earth did they get rid of them??
Not Yet Mentioned (unless I somehow missed them) :

  • These weird popsicles, I think they were from Minute Maid. They came in Cherry, Grape and Orange flavors but weren’t on a stick. Instead, it was a solid chunk in an odd shape: Imagine having two points (to form a line) at one end, but the other end was a line perpendicular to the first, so it’s kind of like a twisted rectangle. Then seal it up in heavy waxed paper that was a real bitch to cut open. I loved these because they were really concentrated, flavor-wise.

  • This was at least 15 years ago: a drink mix that came in a squashed accordion plastic can. All you had to do was stretch out the container, fill to the top with water and shake. I thought it was so cool. No one but my older brother remembers this.

  • Fizzies! My mom always talked about them and then for a little bit, they were back on the shelf. They’re basically fruit flavored Alka Seltzer tablets that you add to water to make your own mediocre soda. But I loved dissolving one in a teeeeeeny bit of water and then adding milk to the top of the glass. Fantastic!

Because we liked them, that’s why. Haven’t you noticed that whenever they come out with something that people really, really, really like, they quit making it? It’s because the people who run companies are dweebs and Og hates us.

I remember both of these. My sisters and I used to take the accordian drinks in our lunch boxes to school, we thought we were hipper than God.

I remember those! Yeah, I wondered where they went.

I remember my mom put a bunch in my christmas stocking the year they were put back on the market. I think she used my stocking as an excuse to buy a bunch for herself. :-p

I remember Puffa Puffa Rice used to come in those multipacks of little cereal boxes. IIRC, the commercials for it were something that would probably be considered racist today…

Tahitian Treat (I found it on Amazon but they don’t carry it here any longer)

and I don’t know where it is, but I haven’t seen Nuts and Bolts in ages. Bits and Bites yes, but not Nuts and Bolts.

Frosted Apple Pop-Tarts. They only have the crappy plain ones with cinnamon-sugar now.

The Carnation Breakfast Squares and the Carnation Breakfast Bars were two different products, but I loved them both! Both were kinda dry, so you needed a big ol’ glass of milk with them, but I loved them so much!

Ah, pre-1983(?) Cocoa Puffs - I stopped eating them when they "new-and-improved"them. Ick.

Jinx, you can buy Hires root beer extract online and make it yourself. It totally kicks ass and it’s wicked easy.

This cat’s ginger ale recipe is the bomb too.

Shake-a-Puddings – single-serve pudding in a cup. Just add water, shake, and wait a minute.
Bonomo Turkish Taffy – although it would probably pull out all my dental work now
Fizzies drink tablets. Kinda like Kool-Aid in Alka Seltzer form.
Cinnamon Sticks Toaster Treats – nothing like them is out right now.

Quaker Shredded Wheat. They were round, like those huge hay bales out in the country. They tasted better than the Nabisco pillow-shaped ones.

The two stores I shop in have stopped carrying banana (Hungarian) peppers. Maybe I’ll try the Mexican grocery across town.

Lawry’s Chicken Taco Mix, Hidden Valley Ranch Blue Cheese Dressing, and Oscar Mayer New England Brand Sausage. :frowning:

Large Marge, I saw Blow Pops in Walmart yesterday.

Me, too; that’s what I came in here to mention.

I just found out that the Vermont Country Store sells something similar: The Vermont Country Store | General Store | Classic Products. They don’t look the same – they seem to be missing that shiny golden brushed egg coating – but maybe they’ll be better than nothing…

Psst, look at a few of the posts above yours.
