I know a few Dopers watch this show, if only to ogle the brothers.
Tonight’s episode was great. The boys, as they said, are so screwed.
And the soundtrack continues to rock.

You know, I’m feeling a little shapeshiftered-out right now. I am in the mood for stories where everybody remains in one form ONLY for the duration.
I don’t mind shapeshifters. Puddles of skin on the floor isn’t so great, but it’s better than the transformation scenes they’ve had before.
I just really enjoyed the episode. I think the show has been great this season, but there’s so little talk about it.
Excellent episode! The camera shot of the searchlights on the bank building reminded me of Blade Runner. Nicely done. I love the look of the show almost as much as I love looking at Sam and Dean.
I wonder why we didn’t get a setup. No explanation of why Sam and Dean were in Milwaukee investigating those robberies. Weird.
I like that this ep was all action, none of that “Dean, you gotta kill me if I go bad!” angst.
I didn’t see the whole episode. I saw up till the part where Dean and that guy saw the puddle of flesh and figured out that the shapeshifter wasn’t the bank manager anymore.
I liked the Doctor Who reference with the tabloid.
I bet Sam and Dean end up saving the life of a high-ranking government official who, in return, makes their troubles with the law go away.
Ha! Yes, I had forgotten that picture.
I’ll also admit to giggling every time someone said “mandroid.”
I thought it was one of their best episodes, probably because there was none of the whiny drivel this show likes to indulge in. I’m pessimistic about the on-the-run-from-the-law arc, though. Reminds me of “Roswell” (shudder).
I wasn’t paying the strictest attention to the show so I was confused by the ending for about 15 minutes after it ended. (I was knitting while watching and I made a mistake and had to unknit a row.) Basically, I thought the reason the FBI guys stopped looking for Sam and Dean in the building was because they thought those guys locked in the closet were Sam and Dean somehow and that didn’t make any sense. At first I thought that the shape-shifter had left copies of them behind, but then I remembered that it just leaves the skin, not whole replicas. Then I realized that they stopped looking for them because they had already gotten away. Anyway, this is one of the better episodes I’ve seen so far. I felt sorry for Sam in that scene where the bank girl is swooning over Dean to him. He must get that a lot.
Yeah. If I met the actor, it’d be the same way. “Hey, you’re the guy from ‘Supernatural’! So, um, where’s your costar?”
Ben Edlund is one of my heroes for his creation of The Tick, but I really disliked the script he wrote for the “Simon Said” episode, because it seemed to me he was unfamiliar with the show and its mythology and its characters, and the script introduced enormous holes in the mytharc. But he must have spent the last few months catching up, because last night’s episode was great.
No major plotholes, the characterization was consistent, and I love the ramping-up of their law troubles. One of my favorite things about this show is how they keep all the clearly fictional supernatural stuff grounded in reality…usually with the family relationships, but now with the way they show that in real life, guys couldn’t get away with all they have to do to do their jobs. It also serves to highlight just how outside of the norm they are – just like the way the fangirl (Sherri?) in the bank was all over Dean until he got engrossed in his job…then she cooled off very quickly.
Now Sam’s wanted by the FBI as well. Poor Sam: Bonnie to Dean’s Clyde. But then, Dean’s always been shown as being more attached to Sam than Sam is to Dean, so we know who really wears the pants in their relationship.
I’ve been meaning to post this in a Supernatural thread for a while:
Am I the only one to notiice the incredibly tacky motel rooms these guys stay in? I wish I had some screencaps to support this, but it’s been so understated, I wonder if it’s some kind of inside joke. The decorations and styles of these rooms are so outlandish (tipping over to being cool at times), it can’t be a coincidence, but I do wonder if they have a set decorator doing a new room for every episode or if the showrunners “collect” tacky motel rooms.
I seem to be in a minority, but I like the existential angst. That and blurring the line between good and evil, makes the show interesting, and not just another MotW show.
I don’t mind the angst. I don’t mind anything about the show except, on occasion, Sam’s freaky hair.
I know my husband and I laughed over one of the motel rooms recently, but now I don’t remember what was so funny. He thinks it was something psychedelic, but I can’t remember anything but laughing.
I feed on the angst like it’s breakfast. LOVE it.
One of the motel rooms last season (in the episode “Provenance”) was dressed like a '70s disco-slash-porn set – screencaps here.
ETA: (Whoo! Editing!) I was wrong – it was more '60s mod than '70s disco. But it was still really funny.
Forgot to mention…
The motel room in “Hell House” was great, too – it was in that Texas theme with the longhorn steer horns on the wall and a stuffed armadillo – and last night’s episode not only had the beer screen, but had large paintings of cows on the wall. So cute. The sets have to be an in-joke with the production staff.
Thank you… Wheew. So I’m not the only one to notice.
Some of these rooms are quite elaborate.
