Supernatural 4/2/09

I’m liking this episode a lot. It looked like a stand-alone at first, but it looks connected to the main storyline.

I still think this episode should have just been entitled “Supernatural”

Who was that actress who played the lady that worked at the publishing company for the Supernatural books?

Okay, now they just had my favorite line of the night.

“Wait, now that just would have been M. Night level of douchiness.”

Even better: “Interesting exercise, let’s see who’s the quicker draw”

I personally liked “You should’ve seen Luke.” And, of course, the slash references. “Don’t they know we’re brothers?” “It doesn’t seem to matter.”

Hee.

I love that Castiel decided to “help” Dean. He’s becoming more interesting every time he appears.

And of course the Prophet was one of the Three Geeks from Buffy. Pity we didn’t see the Archangel.

I really enjoyed this ep. Was also disappointed at the no-show archangel, but that didn’t keep me from enjoying it.

“You just thought I was a dick.” :stuck_out_tongue:

Question, oughtn’t the archangel have shown up when Dean threatened the prophet to get him to the hotel? And then in the hotel room, he/she/it seemed to be taking his/her/its sweet time. Almost made me wonder whether Castiel was just doing a whole lotta shaking to give his best archangel impression…

Bwah? He wasn’t Andrew, Jonathan, or Warren. He was in two episodes, but I can’t recall who that character was. It was driving me a bit batty, 'cause he sounded like Taub from House (but obviously wasn’t).

No, but he played a vampire on Buffy…twice. Hew as one of Adams pathetic minions, named Jape.

Jape on Buffy

Ooooo I have been lied to! A friend who is proud of his Pop Culture knowledge told me so, and he was wroooong.

“I am Chuck, the Prophet!”

I assumed that Dean didn’t actually have a gun with him, thus the prophet was never in any danger.

Probably my favorite of the season. SPN is always best when it mixes humor and drama, and between ribbing the fans and the, ‘let’s get serious’ moments, like where Sam and Chuck talk about the demon blood, there was plenty of mood whiplash to go around.

Castiel’s "I wish I could tell you - " speech to Dean was maybe my favorite bit. Yay for Cas doing what *he *thinks is right!

I noticed that Dean was praised for gaining some faith when he prayed, but Sam is showing less and less all the time. He doesn’t have faith in the angel’s (or God’s, I suppose) plans for Dean, and thinks that only he can save the world. Or maybe it’s a lie and he’s just addicted. Either way, there’s a real role reversal there. I can’t wait to see where they take this.

Also intersting - while Chuck is meant to be a mouthpiece for the word of God, he edits wherever he wants (like taking out the blood drinking to make Sam more sympathetic). Which is nice continuity, since they mentioned earlier in the series that the Bible on earth is incomplete compaired with the Bible in heaven.

Ah, I love when shows break the fourth wall. SPN does it particularly well.

I didn’t understand why Dean warned Lillith about the Archangel when he could have just let it destroy her. It also seems odd that it took so long to show up and yes, I did want to see it, too.

I just started watching this show this past season. I wish I hadn’t wasted all the time on Grey’s Anatomy. I put the earlier seasons on my Netflix queue.
