It was one of those “looks ok, I’ll give it a shot” shows. I tried it and Invasion. Since I only watch Lost, CSI (sometimes) Smallville and Daily Show (and JLU when it comes back  ) I figured I could allow a few more shows.
Invasion sucks.
But Supernatural has suprised me. The enemies are interesting, and the main characters are fairly realistic and engaging. The music choices are good too. That, and one episode had Amy Acker on it, who I liked from my brief Angel time.
I usually don’t get to watch it unless one of my housemates tapes it, since I’m usually out of the house on Tuesdays. But I must say it’s been enjoyable when I’ve seen it.
It is presently better than ‘The Night Stalker’, which saddens me. I’d had rather high hopes for Kolchak, as I loved the Darrin McGavin version. The new one doesn’t seem to have anything in common with its source, except the name of the main character and his boss. However, the potential is there, and I hope they start writing it better as the season goes on.
‘Supernatural’, hopefully, will also just get better.
Supernatural repeats on Sundays, which is when I usually watch it.
It’s far exceeded my expectations, although “Bloody Mary” and the one with the lake drew far too heavily on things like The Ring for my taste. I like the relationship between the brothers, the classic rock soundtrack, and the ongoing mystery of what killed their mother and the brother’s girlfriend.
I saw the first episode and thought it was all right but I haven’t bothered watching since then. I heard that the most recent episode was really great so maybe I’ll try to cath the rerun this weekend. I like the cast, but it’s awfully confusing that Dean’s name is Sam and his brother’s name is Dean.
Yeah, the “Bloody Mary” episode was kinda “Ringish”, but the reveal about Sam was very interesting.
I mean, how could he tell his girl he’d been dreaming about her dying for weeks beforehand?
The Water one was creepy and freaky, and the plane one was just something I’d never seen or heard of before Exorcism at 20,000 feet!
I liked the Wendigo, and last night’s was a lot of fun and pretty gory for a bit. Mercifully it stayed away from too many cliches.
I just like the fact that they really haven’t had any “normal” monsters yet, like werewolves and vampires. As long as they stay with the cool lesser-known stuff, I’ll enjoy it and keep watching. Also, their apparent policy of one hot girl every episode is aggreable.
It’s one of Entertainment Weekly’s top five new shows, for what that’s worth.
I’m hooked too (no pun intended). I haven’t noticed any huge plot holes or irrational behavior, and I liked how the most recent episode brought up addressed something that’ll be an issue with the brothers – Sam having a chance at a normal life while Dean hunts monsters.
I do wonder about how they resolved the shapeshifter story.
Zach was released because Dean was blamed for the first murder, but what about the Asian guy? Doesn’t his wife still think she was tortured by him, her husband?
I thought there was some evidence that he hadn’t been home at the time the murder happened, like he was on a trip or something? He was really messed-up looking, especially when he shifted.
I’ve been watching it and feeling guilty about it.
It’s kind of fun – but it’s easily the cheesiest thing I’ve looked at in the last ten years or so.
I mean, with its premise, you expect a pretty high fromage content – but they really exceed expectations. I can get past the cheesy writing. It is what it is.
Last night’s episode, though, contained some chroma key “driving” scenes that made me feel like I was watching The Dukes of Hazzard.
And I’m not sure how many more angles they can find of the four or five locations around Vancouver that they seem to be sticking to.
Yeah, he’s in the clear with the cops, but what about his wife? She’s gonna go through life thinking her husband has a violent double or something. The writers should have left that one out, I think.
I looked at it as collateral damage. Just cause the enemy is killed doesn’t mean that it all gets wrapped up in a nice bow. The people it killed are still dead. Kinda harsh, I know.
