Support for..uhhh...big breasted women.

Basically, I’ve bought a halter top. However, history has taught me that strapless bras never go far enough down the back. So why don’t I just go out and buy one of those stick-on cups?

Because I’m a 44DD. I mean, I don’t think those things will help me at all. I need something with support that doesn’t leave me feeling naked - the only time I’m braless is in the shower.

Any help, my doper brethren?

Have you tried a longline style strapless like this one? They list it up to 48FF!

While the brethren is generally supportive of big breasted women, you might want to refer this specific question to the sisterhood.

I’m having trouble visualizing how longline strapless bras would work.

I’m not sure I described this right - the halter top back is so low that I don’t think a regular bra will work - the back closure will show.

What can I say, it’s late at night. :smack:

So, I take it you’re single?

Shit. This isn’t the kind of support I was thinking about at all when I read the OP.

YAY, BIG BREASTS!

Step away from the stick-ons. They’re a huge waste of money.
You have two possibilities:

A longline strapless bra made for low-backed dresses and tops. It will be long in the front, but tapers down to hook near the waist. I had to buy one about 12 years ago to wear with a bridesmaid’s dress that was low in the back and had lace sleeves & shoulders (there was no other choice but to buy that kind of bra).

A bra with adjustable/removable straps. I bought one from Lane Bryant a few years ago for a halter top, which worked fine at the time. The straps can be adjusted to be used for halter, racerback and strapless. Since your top is low in the back, your best bet would be the first kind.

Forgot to mention–you’d probably find this kind of bra in a specialty lingerie store that caters to wedding/formal items. That’s where I had to buy mine.

Depending on the weight of the fabric that the top is made of, you could also consider altering the top itself.

You can either:

buy sew-in bra cups (Not a good option if your top is stretchy fabric, but these work pretty well if the top is a bit more solid)

get a suitable strapless bra, and sew loops to the inside of the back strap of the top. You thread the back strap of the bra through these before hooking it closed, The loops keep your bra from sliding out the back of the top.
This is an old Haloween pic of me. That’s how I did the top of my dress.

Only eight posts (now nine), but over 250 views. Nice to know where our priorities lie.

Hey, there’s already been one picture linked!

I’m just shocked that there hasn’t been one “cite?” post.

Since I’m such a great guy I will offer to support you. With my hands. I will even hold them for you while you shower.

Thanks everybody for the suggestions and giggles.

Greetings from another breastastically blessed doper.
My 36 DDs have a nice red satin formal we wear to gala events, and it is almost totally backless (there are a couple of thin spaghetti straps that wrap across the back). It’s a halter-style with the front of the dress tapering and reaching up and around to clasp behind the neck. I wear no bra with this because long-lines would still show and the stick-on cup thingies are worthless.

My answer? Packaging tape. The clear kind. I take enough of the clear tape to wrap under and around each breast starting from the centerline of my chest, then up around my neck. It stays completely hidden under the halter strap, and supports the breast. The tape is that kind that sticks really well to paper- but no so much to anything else- so it peels off with fairly little fuss. Just don’t get the tape on your areola or nipples.

*as an amusing side note, breastastically was caught by my spell check, and the suggestion for correction was sadistically. That works, too

I’d suggest you hire someone to walk behind you with their arms around you just holding them up.

And by “hire”, I mean “ask”.
