Ladies, your fav brands of summer tops with built-in bras?

Spring is around the corner so I’m thinking summer tops. I do still need good bra support (I’m a D), but I would love to find some tops (that can be ordered online) that are low/wide cut, with spaghetti straps, or halters. Give my neck and shoulders some sun without worrying about visible bra straps.

Some examples of what I mean: this ballerina tophas a wide scooped neck in front and in the back. It is nursing wear, though, which I don’t need. Amazon has a lot of tanktops with built-in bra’s, but they all either very sporty, or they get negative reviews.

I’m not so handy that I can sew them myself.

Any tips?

I like Express’s tank tops with built in bra but that might be too casual for your purposes. Here it is. I wear them underneath sweaters or with cardigans a lot and they look pretty good and I think offer nice support.

Thanks, those look very good. They are casual to wear by themselves, but good under anythign else, from halter to summer dress. I’m going to try out a couple of those. Are you sure they will support a D enough? (Obviously, not as good as a good bra, but enough to get by?)

Now I need also a couple with longer sleeves or different models.

Ah, sorry…I don’t know how it will support a D. I’m about a B cup but I don’t know what other women’s experiences with the Express camisoles are. There are a ton of reviews on the site I linked to so if you have time maybe you could scroll down and see if anyone has posted on that aspect specifically. Or if you have an Express near you, you could try one on before buying–I think this is a basic tank top that they keep in stock year round.

Built in bras are useless for D cups unless they are exercise wear, ie. yoga tops. Get yourself a sports bra that has straps that look like the top of a tank top rather than traditional bra straps. It will look like you’ve layered a tank under whatever strappy top you choose to wear.

OOh? Can you link to an example?

I’m a C, and I bought a few from Victoria’s Secret a couple years ago and am very happy with them. I don’t go jogging in them or anything like that, but they’re plenty good enough for normal daily use.

I bought a few summer tops with inbuilt shelf bras, but none of them were really comfortable. Then I tried on an ah-bra. They are new on the market since a year or so. An Ah bra is machinally knitted out of one piece of elastic fibre. So no seams. They look like a top under a dress or shirt. They are comfortable as hell.

Tell-Sell came up with them first, but now most stores sell them in a gazillion colors for less then 10 bucks apiece. I love them. They are indeed comfortable enough to sleep in, and dressy enough not to worry about visible bra straps anymore. They don’t pinch anywhere.

The only drawback is that they give a bit less support then a regular bra. They aren’t really good for jogging, and they don’t lift the girls as high as some bras did. But for every day use, and especially under summer tops, they are an absolute win.

I absolutely swear by Bravissimo(based in the UK, but they probably ship overseas)

Proper supportive bras for women from a D to an H cup, built into vest tops and a halterneck top, so no bra straps showing. They are a bit pricey so I’ve linked you to their sale site, but it could be worth checking on ebay too (that’s how I got mine)

(edited to add this ebay example! Not my listing, if you were wondering)

When I was much thinner I had several camisole-style tank tops from Hanes with built-in underwire DD bras. Loved them! Actual real support from an actual real bra.

Hanes websites seem to all be down for maintenance right now, so I can’t link you to one, but I will try to remember to check later.

I can never find a bra top that actually fits right - I wear a D cup now, so the shelf bras just do NOT do it for me, and the difficulties of finding a bra that really fits that’s ALSO a tank top that really fits are practically insurmountable, in my experience.

I’m not quite sure how to word this but here goes:

How good are these at not disclosing your temperature? I haven’t found a cami yet that doesn’t advertise unless it’s paired with a bra. I’ll buy one in every color if I can find some with better padding in that area.

I haven’t bought this yet, but I think I will.

Camisole with built in underwire bra

That is exactly like the Hanes ones I had, and a better price, and more colors!

I will try those next summer if my weight loss this year is successful. (10lb down, 50 to go!)

I’m the same size and have the same problem. I’ve tried a couple of the Victoria’s Secret built-in-bra tops and dresses, and they seem to have decent support, but unfortunately they’re made really tight everywhere else and end up being really unflattering since I’m not thin. I see that some of this years styles look a little more flowy, but I’m hesitant to try them again. I wish they sold them in stores so I could try them on! Having to pay shipping back when they don’t fit is a pain in the ass.

That looks like it’s made less tight, which is great, but holy crap that’s not cheap!
