Congrats on the commencin’ again ShinyTiger! What are you commencin’ to do at this point?
Ok, I’m leavin’ for the church house to meet OYKW and enjoy men’s night. Y’all be good. No feet on the furniture. No cookies until after dinner.
Be Nice!

I reupped also, because I noticed Ed’s note at the top of the page. And I did it for 2 years, which means I’ll really be inclined to forget in 2012… So I put a reminder in Outlook. Now, as long as this computer lasts 2 more years…
I am not happy. My supper did not get done as it was supposed to. The chicken is partly raw, and the N.O.T. are hard. Plus when I was nuking veggies, I blew a breaker. We’re going to be eating late. Guess I shoulda rotissed the chicken instead of doing the oven thing.
On the other hand, we’re still having a nice steady shower. The temps are about 20° lower than normal, but not cold enough to require heat, so there’s that.
And I get to go back to work tomorrow. Rah.

Your new nick name is “Ralphie-Boy” (as in The Honeymooners) That’s what you get for causing Soapy to pout.
There are plenty of roadside farm stands on the Guylindt. The closest decent one is 35 miles east. That’s where the farms start. But I used to love to go out to the forks a few times in the late spring-early fall and buy lovely produce. Unfortunately, I have not been able to get out there in years. sigh
Do all the projects I haven’t been able to do because I was busy with schoolwork. And work, of course.
Hah! I re-upped around the end of March even though I had until sometime this month to do it! I beat all of you! Nyah-nyah! ;)
I have not been nearly productive as I should have been today. I just don’t give a crap today. Actually, the whole workplace is rather subdued.
Big hugs to you Sticky. I really hope things start looking up for you and your family.
Other than that, I got nuttin’ for now.

Thank god. I was worried.

Hey, Soapy, how come all your posts start with the thread title?
I’m using the Tapatalk iPhone app that was just activated. It’s an annoying side effect.
Well, you should have been. :p:p
Since I’m trying to get people to do it, here’s a link to the the Do Something Thread. I’d like to make it the MMP of Cafe Society.
Oh, and I forgot to mention, I got beaucoup bucks from my family. $500 from my grandparents and $100 from my uncle and aunt. I’ll send them thank you note cards as soon as I can find the supplies. I’m going to get new glasses first and then probably save the rest for a laptop.
Meh. Mehhhhhhhhh.
I jst got home from working a wreck in a downpour. I don’t think I’ll ever dry out.
The good news: no major injuries.
I spent the day listening to a lot of people who needed a quick, yet painful refresher on good customer service. I was so disappointed in my co-workers today. The first call of the day was absolutely pathetic. Bobbio got wet, at least, and I’m so jealous.
I’m home from the crazy grocery run. Believe it or not I have 4 lunches tomorrow. I don’t think I’ve had that many in one day all year. Poor Gila Monster is going to have to deliver 3 out of the 4 because they are relatively close together and the other one is an hour away. I’m taking the farther away one because one of hers has some steps which still scare me and I really hate going down them especially while carrying food for 25 people.
My mom seems a little better. She had me very worried earlier today. I hope she feels much better in the morning.
Ok, I’d better get back to cooking. I have to make sloppy joes and bbq chicken before I head to bed.
MMMMMMMM… Sloppy BBQ Chicken Joes! ![]()
StickyBuns it’s either feast or famine ain’t it. Glad you got the work even though it’s a lot at one time.
ShinyCat yay for all the swag! If I weren’t so lazy I’d participate in your do sump’n thread. Actually, I don’t know if this counts or not, but I’ve been meanin’ to do some volunteer work for the local mission/soup kitchen. There’s no reason I couldn’t help out some, plus, the Nuns that run it are super nice and appreciate anything anybody does.
Men’s night was great. Always a good time. Heh. YP told me that he noticed my total lack of enthusiasm in singin’ the recessional hymn yesterday. He said my expression was like, “please let it end!” I told him that the best thing about that particular hymn is the fact that it does indeed eventually need. It’s one of those tunes that are like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. He said he has no idea why he caught that expression on my face except maybe for the fact that I just happened to be particularly in his line of sight during the processional. Oh, btw, he told me he agrees re this particular hymn.
However, it did have its place as an appropriate hymn for yesterday, bein’ as it was the First Sunday After Ascension Day. Still, icky hymn. In case y’all are wondering it’s this hymn. The lyrics are ok but that tune… AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!
Mmmm, I love local markets. There are a bunch of little local markets in Columbus, plus there are lots of places where you can pick your own fresh produce of various sorts. And there are more and more CSAs.
I’m hoping to get a lot of my produce from my own garden, but there are always things that I don’t grow or can’t grow or can’t grow enough of.
And Bricker, apart from making sure there’s a broader local economic base, locally-grown produce brings a higher quality of life. Most really fresh produce tastes much better than most of what you can get at the supermarket. I love being able to buy an ear of corn that was just picked and cook it right away. Mmmmmm.
So sorry about your co-worker, Taters. Sudden losses are so hard to cope with.
I FORCED you to tell the story, Bobbio??? :dubious:
Did I actually see SO back there?? ::waves::
Happy graduation, STG!
I still need to renew. Guess I should do that, huh?
I was wondering about the repeated titles too, Soapy. Odd, but now I’ll know to ignore them.
Longish day. Haircut. Nice sandwich with my own lettuce. Doing mindless stuff online. Annoyed at laptop making funny noise - it’s not even 2 years old! Glad the iBook still works.
Hugs all.

Although I got off at my regular time, the day just seemed very long. I couldn’t wait to get the hell out of there. I had to stop for milk and sundries on the way home.
Once I got home, I worked out, and I’ve currently got dinner in the oven.
That’s about it.
Congrats on graduation and the swag, Shiny Tiger.
I’m glad your mom is doing better, Sticky. I’m glad you’ve got some business too.
The farmer’s market around here open on weekends, when I work.
Hope the week picks up, Sticky.
I re-upped last month.
Glad you found your phone, ** VBob**
Even here in Das Big City we can (as I put it) think global and shop local. One of the gas stations near me will carry Evans City corn and the one local family market gets their baked goods from the Amish (although I suspect some may be heathen Mennonites) up above Butler. And I can visit the Farmers Market weekly. It doesn’t have the same visual as roadside stands but it gives me a warm feeling.
Ahhhhh - almost a great debate in the making. Soapy is right IMHO although I would like to add another to her(?) list. It gets us out of our homes to something other than a megamart or box-store. It lets us call someone by name and have them call us by name as well. It becomes as much a social event as an economic event. It also, in the inner city, gets some other business happening on the block other than weed and crack. In other words, to some of us it just feels good.
On a total different near-hijacking note: anyone near Pittsburgh should note October 30th (Saturday) in their Dayrunners. OUTrageous Bingo (AKA “Gay Bingo”) is scheduled for that day and the GLCC is encouraging costumes. Considering what we, gay or straight, sometimes show up wearing on the average months I can almost promise a time to remember to be had by anyone making it. Ticket and reservation information (you need one of each) can be had from me closer to the event or you can send me a PM and ask me to remind you.
