"surgery" went well!

In the Scary Doctor Stories thread, I mentioned that I was going in for a LEEP and was a little nervous about it. Everyone was very supportive and a couple people told me to let you know how it went…it went fine!

Not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Only took about 5 minutes and I was out of there, feeling a little violated, but fine nonetheless.

Took the day off yesterday, laid on the couch and checked into the board a couple times, but now I’m back at work with a decent keyboard, so I’ll actually be able to participate with you all!

So, if you’re female, make sure you go regularly (once a year) to get your Pap and if ANYTHING is wrong, don’t be scared and put off getting treated. I’m sure what I had done is infinitely easier than what would need to be done if I had ignored it. The doctor said she sees a lot of women who have an abnormal test and then just ignore it and stop going to the doctor out of fear. Very sad.

End of lecture…

Congratulations. I’m glad everything came out ok for you.

Congrats. What is a LEEP?

Something you should always LOOK before doing.

LEEP stands for Loop Electrosurgical Excisional Procedure. When a woman has a pap that shows abnormal/precancerous cells on her cervix, they basically take a little wire loop and cut them out. Just writing that gives me the cringes. It’s not nearly as bad as it sounds.

Oh, so that’s what it stands for! I never bothered to ask when I had mine done back in January.

Surprisingly fast, isn’t it? I think that’s a good thing. But don’t be surprised if you have some cramps, bleeding, and clotting within the next week or so. I sure did. Normal, though. It may not look or feel normal, but it is.

Glad everything went well!

This space blank, until Wally thinks up something cool to put here.

Yeah, Cristi, I kept my mind off what they were doing by getting educated…I read the little pamphlet on the procedure while it was going on so I could concentrate on something else.
Thanks for the warning! So far, so good…I’m popping the Motrin, though.

C3, I preferred it when you told us you were fine, but didn’t explain what it was. (Still cringing)

Glad you’re OK though.

I’m so glad everything went well. I was wondering how you were doing.

 Excellent C3!!! Thanks for taking the time to up date us. Take care!

“Lilacs bloomed in April and fruit ripened on the vine. Heartbeats quickened and old appetites were renewed. In April a livelier iris gleamed upon the burnished dove. April was spring, and in the spring Milo Minderbinder’s fancy had lightly turned to thoughts of…tangerines.”

Wednesday was the day my friend went in to have her hysterectomy because of the dysplasia detected from a PAP smear.

I called her after the surgery and I asked her if they saved any extra parts. I don’t know why I asked that but she thought it was pretty funny.

Good for you, C3! I’m so glad you did it, have it over with and are healing up. Some temporary discomfort is WORTH a long life, for you, your friends and your family.

BTW, don’t ever think the “mundane” stuff here doesn’t make a difference. Some of the discussions here by you gals shamed me into going for the “10K mile checkup” tests I’d blown off.

Take the Motrin, pamper yourself some and kick back. I’m glad you’re okay and will be here with us for a long time.

I guess you don’t want to know what an endometrial biopsy is either, then.

I’m having my ovaries and uterus removed on Wednesday. One ovary is cancerous. Joy. Y’all won’t be seeing as much of me for a while.

Lynn

I’m taking last week back to the store, and I won’t even ask for a refund.

Well Lynn, I would think we would be seeing more of you. You won’t be able to lift heavy stuff for sometime or drive, etc. So you should be home writing on the board more?

I’ll probably be in bed for the first couple of weeks, or so the doc says. He says that sitting will be uncomfortable. Generally, when a doctor says “uncomfortable”, this means that I’m going to experience a lot of pain.

No computer, no video games, and I don’t like TV. Good thing I like to read.

Done that one (in a County clinic with no anesthesia) and it’s no fun at all. My sympathies :frowning:

Yikes! I hope all goes well for you. Let us all know how you’re doing as soon as you can.

Catrandom

God, Lynn, I’m sorry to hear that. All the best to you, and we’ll be wishing you well. The only important thing is for you to take care of yourself.

Rest up, read and heal. (Have you tried books on tape? They can make a nice break when you’re tired of holding a book, or just want to drift a little.)

Beaming wishes for a fast recovery your way,
Veb

So how are you feeling today C3?
