When I read this a bit ago, I thought you were taking a jab at Elon. Then I opened my local paper and found this story. WTF? Trump and Rep Baumgartner want to reopen resettlement, but they better be white refugees. Can the racism be more blatant at this point?

I have a passport as well but intend to go ahead and get the Real ID. My passport has to be renewed in February '26 and I don’t want to have my travel options restricted while waiting for it to be renewed. I don’t know if they still do it this way but the last time it had to be renewed I had to send it in. I got it back separately from the new one but there was a brief period where I didn’t have a passport in my possesion.
Just to be clear, a baseline REAL ID, by itself, is not a travel document and is not supposed to be used to reenter the US from abroad. It is not proof of US Citizenship. The Enhanced ID, on the other hand, is proof of citizenship and can be used to reenter the US at sea and land ports of entry. However, only 5 states offer Enhanced IDs, and they will also offer baseline REAL IDs. So be careful not to rely on your REAL ID as a travel document unless it is also an Enhanced ID.
It’s actually even worse than that. Not only are these people being granted refugee status because they are white, but they are almost certainly white supremacists because the entire story behind their “persecution” (the supposed genocide of white farmers in South Africa) is itself a white supremacist conspiracy theory.
So, again, they’re not just white, they’re white people who are claiming to be persecuted because life is supposedly just too hard for the descendants of white people who colonized and subjugated the black and colored population for literal centuries and still control a disproportionate share of wealth and property as a consequence of the history of colonization and subjugation.
You misunderstand me - I am fully aware Real ID will not allow a person to enter the US. When I said “I don’t want to have my travel options restricted while waiting for it to be renewed” I was talking about domestic travel. The intent is for Real ID to be required for domestic air travel.
Perfect Republicans. Made to order. Maybe the USA will become a haven for persecuted white supremacists from all over the world.

I imagine someone in the malAdministration is scouring the statutes seeking some justification for expedited citizenship. And someone else is working on manufacturing such a justification out of whole cloth.
In any case, if they’re settling in Idaho (as I understand the first batch is, and I’m not sure whether I feel sorrier for them or the state) I don’t think they’ll move the current needle appreciably.

God’s chosen people, abandoned by the Netherlands, forced to trek into darkest Africa by the British. Where they were set upon by violent natives, then subjugated again by the British by being forced into concentration camps. Followed by economic domination under British capitalists, who preferred to employ the cheaper native peoples over good god fearing Afrikaaner peasants. They, Afrikaaner Nationalists, had to create and enforce Apartheid in order to ensure that the White Afrikaaner Christian Heterosexual Man would stay at the top of the heap.
Of course their persecution complex is going to get a good workout the first time they get screwed by their health insurance, fired at the whim of their boss, or price gouged by unrelenting capitalism.
