Surprises coming for voters for the Leopards-Eating-Faces Party

As pointed before, accelerationists are the ones in the wrong side of history. You leave, many will not take your ideas, we will fight for the majority that includes the ones that were mistaken but now are supporting us.

And speaking of the ones that found that their faces are being bitten: many are not liking what they got.

As a commenter in Reddit said sarcastically about many of the ones being bitten:

I voted to be racist, not poor…

Have you expressed what this collapse entails? Or is it just a cartoonish dystopia that exists only in sci-fi movies and your own imagination? How will I suffer after this collapse? Will my bank accounts disappear? Will supermarket shelves be empty? Will I have to carry cash in a wheelbarrow to buy a loaf of bread?

Show your work.

That sarcastic line is excellent.

But sadly, some are, or at least are trying to. One woman on my Facebook feed, noting that her medication refills now cost hundreds of dollars where they previously cost about $20, says that she just has to tighten her belt, and that it feels good to be “paying her own way” rather than “sponging off of other people.”

She’s really bought into the right wing narrative. I wonder how long she can keep it up, and how long it will be before her belt is as tight as it can go, and those meds become unaffordable.

I mean, it’s fascism; most likely you’ll be dead. That’s how fascism deals with anyone who doesn’t fit their desire physical and ideological ideal. Any collapse will come after, most likely nobody in this thread will be here to see it.

As others have said, what is this going to look like, and how will it be done? How will we know when it is “completely torn down” so the rebuilding can start? Won’t it be easier to stop the tearing down ASAP and rebuild from there? And where do you propose finding 330 million other vibrant people who aren’t fascists and racists?

I firmly believe that things can’t start to get better until after Trump’s death. I don’t believe that Trumpism will survive Trump, and I don’t think there is anyone else who can take up his mantle (thank Og). Many will try, of course, but realistically, who? Vance? Johnson? Don Jr? Eric? It is to laugh!

Post Trump, the Republican party and the MAGA movement will splinter into factions that will be more likely to fight each other than against the Dems in any effective way.

Trump is a one-off, and once he is gone, at least some of the semi-sane Republicans who were too cowed to stand up to him may grow a spine and vote with the Dems to fix some of the chaos Trump has created. It won’t be quick or easy or cheap. But the utter failures and horrors of Trump’s policies will be plain to everyone, and all but a small minority of die-hards will support returning to some form of liberal democracy.

I’m 70, and I don’t expect to see it be completed in my lifetime, but I hope to see it start turning that way, and I hope to still be living in the U.S. when it happens.

I agree. @Miller, can we please split the irrelevancies into their own thread and get back to the Schadenfreude?

I agree with this.

I agree also! Now we just need a volunteer to bell the cat.

Gawd, I hope you’re right.

This is a stupid attitude and you’re dumb for relying on it to save you.

Trump is the figurehead, there are way more people involved - people with a plan. They published their fucking plan and are enacting it by the book. And you’re all distracted by the dancing monkey they have fronting it.

I mean, I really don’t expect much better from the average American, but for fuck’s sake, if you think it ends withTrump, you really are completely fucking delusional.

Hard agree w @MrDibble.

No argument that the bowel movement will live on after the Orange Peril shuffles off; and yes, there are people with a plan and the will to carry it through. But the point I believe @commasense was making is that “Trumpism” is something like Yugoslavia under Tito: an unstable coalition of mutually antagonistic entities (Christian Nationalists, Randites, Second Amendment gundamentalists, disaffected racists, &c&c&c); and like Yugoslavia, without Dear Leader to hold it together such a coalition is prone to collapse. There are several who would claim the mantle, but none of them seem to have the cachet to pull it off.

All of which, on both sides of the argument, is speculation. I’m just praying that we survive — both personally and as a nation — the aftermath.

I know this is the Pit and all, but I don’t think there was any call to insult me. I will not respond in kind, but will try to explain why I think you’re mistaken (not dumb).

First, as I stated in my previous post, what I’m relying on to save me (and the country) are my own actions and those of millions of other patriotic Americans who are fighting back against this fascist regime.

What I expressed in the post you replied to were my opinions and hopes.

Trump is not merely a figurehead: he is a demagogue the likes of which this country has never seen. Tell me you truly believe that Project 2025 could have accomplished one tenth of what Trump has done so far if it weren’t for the fact that virtually every Republican in the country, and a fair number of Democrats, are terrified that the MAGA millions will will either primary them or physically attack them if Trump says the word.

Do you truly think that any other Republican will have that power once Trump is gone? Or that there will be that level of unity in the party?

Trump is a “dancing monkey” in the sense that he had no part in drawing up all the horrible details of Project 2025, and doesn’t really care that much about it unless it helps him personally some how. But its authors wouldn’t have had a chance of getting most of it done without him because of the fanatical devotion MAGA has to him, and pretty much only him, IMHO.

Who do you think could take over as head of the Republicans and lead with Trump’s level of control?

You seem to have misunderstood what I was claiming. I wasn’t saying that I thought everything will be sunshine and lollipops as soon as Trump dies. Note the qualifications I included (emphasis mine):

Trump is a one-off, and once he is gone, at least some of the semi-sane Republicans who were too cowed to stand up to him may grow a spine and vote with the Dems to fix some of the chaos Trump has created. It won’t be quick or easy or cheap. But the utter failures and horrors of Trump’s policies will be plain to everyone, and all but a small minority of die-hards will support returning to some form of liberal democracy.

I’m 70, and I don’t expect to see it be completed in my lifetime, but I hope to see it start turning that way, and I hope to still be living in the U.S. when it happens.

Yes, the forces behind Project 2025 and the billionaires will continue to do their best to destroy the country, and if Trump lives long enough the damage may be irreversible. Which is why we have to fight now to stop it while there’s still time.

Thanks to @OttoDaFe for expanding on my points.

You and me both, man.

Seconded. This is a long con that has been in the works since at least the Reagan era. Trump’s gibbering and bloviating are designed (not by him though – he just thinks he’s in charge) to distract us from the dismantling of our government and society.

But after the headlong dismantling of voting rights – and it seems to be clipping along at a breakneck pace – there is no need for MAGA or any other “citizens” group. Government will be wholly in the hands of the plutocrats. No need for a charismatic leader if you don’t have to get elected.

No, it’ll be in the hands of the fascists; the plutocrats will at that point be expendable and basically powerless. Not that they are smart enough to realize it, even with the example of Putin arranging for Russian oligarchs he doesn’t like to “fall out of windows”. The plutocrats are destroying the system that gives them their power and privilege in the first place, and are setting themselves up to just be more leopard food.

So what’s the ultimate outcome? The leopards eat each other, until only one remains? Does he have a Scottish brogue?

Nazi America. A society where all that matters is brute force and hatred. And how many corpses you can dump in the mass graves.
