I’m a high school teacher, and I used a worksheet last year that asked students to pretend they had been in a plane crash in the desert. They are given a list of 12 items (items like water, flashlights, etc.) and are told to rank them in order of importance. It’s a great excercise, but the trouble is, I can’t find my answer key. A military expert ranked the items and gave a brief explanation. Has anyone ever seen this? If so, do you have an answer key? It just seems like the type of excercise that would be passed around the internet quite a bit.
Well Here you go JAPrufrock. This is a basic survival kit necessity pack from “THE SAS SURVIVAL HANDBOOK”
ranked in order of importance. 1 being most important.
1)Water and/or water sterlization tablets.
2)matches(waterproof)
3)compass
4)firstaide kit
5)magnifying glass
6)fish hooks + line
7)flexible saw
8)snareware (wire for snaring)
9)static radio or crank radio
10)tarp
11)flashlight/batteries
12)good locking or single blade knife
of course there are other things you should have. but these things are the basic basic necessities one would need. The first four are crucial to survival. Of course some can be mixed and matched.
If you go to google and type in sas survival handbook you should get some good results as well.
Good luck
Thanks, but I should have mentioned that this particular worksheet had a list of 12 specific items, and they had to be ranked in order. Some of the items were eiter useless, or even dangerous (i.e. salt tablets, which would cause dehydration, a .45 caliber pistol, which could prove dangerous around people suffering from starvation and dehydration). I need to find someone who has this exact worksheet.
