Most of those quibbling posts are down to the OP vehemently defending his choice to call her Elizabeth of York - there wasn’t any actual nitpicking of his OP before he stepped up to say ‘no, I’M right.’ (My post that mentioned it was only to clarify to another poster that the OP had already mentioned QE II).
No - I didn’t step up to say “no, I’M right” (sic). I merely pointed out that everyone else’s “corrections” were wrong and that the topic was not nearly as simple as the pedant wannabes would have us believe. “Elizabeth of York” referred to her sans title and I thought that was an elegant approach that addressed the specific problem adequately.
It’s much easier to sit in judgement on others and point out how wrong they are then it is to get things right. It was clear that I was referring to the woman who would become Queen Elizabeth II and that should have been enough.
