But if I recall correctly the show pays people on an increasing amount depending on how long they last. If it came to a choice of getting rid of Jane and knowing you almost certainly would be out within two more cases or keeping her in and taking a chance that she might not have the jury all sewn up, I think I’d opt to keep her in. As it is, Dan and Fabio have to count on winning immunity. One of them might. My mileage may vary.
Man, I just read notfrommensas link about what was left out of the TC (there’s also a comment after Probst’s blog about it). Veeerryy interesting, and could affect the final vote if Sash makes it too.
That was way back in the second or third episode. She took Dan’s expensive alligators shoes, filled them with sand, and stuck them in the ocean. And then terrified everyone as she confessed to Dan, looking like she was about to stab him.
Really, I’ve never liked Holly and she always seemed like a hypocrite. She was the first to criticize Nay for hiding the food, and she heavily criticized the quitters, even though she was on the verge of quitting herself.
It also makes you wonder about who else he has bribed or tried to bribe. And whether bribery goes on off-camera on a regular basis. I’d be very surprised if there is not a contractual prohibition on such bribery. And if there is a contractual prohibition, I have to wonder what if anything Survivor will do about it. Not acting on that could really harm the credibility of the show. Unless they want us to understand bribery to be just part of playing the game.
According to realityblurred.com quid pro quo arrangements to share prizes or money are forbidden. It would seem that any type of bribe could be included in this.
Of course, the website points out that this kind of thing has happened in the past. The producers claim the right to modify the rules at any time and so could do so if they felt it made the game interesting. But it seems that a contestant can’t go into the game expecting to do this.
I generally enjoy Jeff’s blog, but I find it odd when he writes stuff like “I don’t see how _____ can win,” or “I’ll be really surprised if _____ happens.”
It kind of takes me out of it, because he already knows what happens and he knows who wins! (And I seriously doubt he’s writing these in “real time” after each TC, since he wouldn’t yet know what the editing will show for that episode.)
Regarding the spoilered part of the Tribal Council…
Apparently, the producers cut the cameras when Jane made that accusation and had a consultation. They seem to have decided that Jane misunderstood what Sash was saying. He’s been making it clear that if he wins, he would help his mother pay down her mortgage. Jane apparently took “his mother” to mean her, based on what Sash was saying a couple of eps ago about Jane being like his second mother. That’s my understanding of it, anyway.
But she didn’t, and they did. Therein lies the difference.
Regarding why Dan and Fabio didn’t force a tie with Jane by voting Holly:
In the event of a tie before there are four contestants remaining, a revote among the non-tied contestants will occur, in which the only candidates for elimination are the tied players. If the revote does not resolve the tie, the tied players are granted immunity and the non-tied players (except anyone who has won individual immunity [and played a hidden immunity idol?]) are forced to choose rocks out of a bag without looking; the player who chooses the differently colored rock is eliminated.
Fabio, Chase, and Sash were all immune. If this is indeed the current version of the rules, then Holly and Jane would have been made immune after a tie on the revote, leaving Dan as the only person left to be voted out.
That just sounds like they were looking for a way to gloss over/ignore the problem.
There is something that just doesn’t sound kosher about this chain of events:
Why in the world would the producers need to “cut the cameras”? Don’t the producers and others powers that be have total possession of the film and tape? Are they worried about leaks? Well obviously there are leaks if this information got out despite any confidentiality agreements. Maybe they did more than “cut the cameras”? Like escort the jury and the other players off the set to get the story from Sash and Jane.
More circumstantial evidence about the incident at Tribal in a interview with Jane.
Cover up!
I haven’t clicked on the spoiler links, but do they know who/how these details were linked?
Wow. So Fabio is the genius, an Chase is the idiot. Really, Chase is an absolute idiot. Keep your fucking moth shut, you moron. And Jane, I lost all respect for you. It’s a fucking game, and you’re the most likely to win if you make it to the final. Buh-bye.
Anyway, I have to agree to heavy editing at TC, which explains Jane’s vote for Sash.
Someone remind me why Sash is a minority?
Biracial, apparently.
Apparently there is a poster at survivorsucks.com that is “on the inside” of the survivor producers and knows all the results and posts them. I can’t believe the poster has not been outed by TPTB.
All I could think of was the SNL skit with the kissing family.
There has been more light shed on the controversy but don’t click the link unless you want to get spoiled on who wins survivor.
What’s the new info.? I mean, I see it is a discussion thread, but I don’t see the info. Please spoiler-box it for us.
