Survivor 12/3/14

I was disappointed the questions weren’t of the “who is the brattiest tribemate” variety. Those are always more fun than strictly factual answers.

Wow. I started a thread that I didn’t even know I started!

Due to a DVR malfunction, I missed seeing the reward challenge and tuned in jut it time to see that Missy had won it. I figured I hadn’t missed much, but from the comments here it seems like something unusual happened. Can somebody bring me up to speed?

Once Keith and Alec got knocked out, the 5 remaining had an open discussion about who should win the reward, and agreed to let Missy win. Probst said that if they all agreed, there was no point playing out a foregone conclusion and ended the challenge, declaring Missy the winner.

My DVR malfunctioned also – a lot of that going on, apparently – and I missed the opening 7 or so minutes of the first episode. Did they show any remorse on Keith’s part over Wes getting voted out on the previous week’s TC? Gotta think that struck an emotional chord.

Is anybody watching the Ponderosa arrivals on YouTube? They’re worth a watch. Jeremy seemed to really seethe over Alec’s airhead observations. (“I’m a better player because I lasted longer.”) Also, it was high comedy when Wes got there. He had dropped to 161 lbs on the show… but by the next day at Loser Lodge he was already up to 170! He’s gotta be the top candidate for morphing into a fatso at the Reunion.

No, just Alec and Reed being mad at him for blabbing and giving their plan away. Alec got the confessional time (foreshadowing him getting voted out).

Keith was probably oblivious to his error. Not a group of rocket scientists this season.

BTW, I’m betting the odds of Missy getting pulled from the show next week are ZERO. I think it would be unprecedented for a teaser to foreshadow something that actually happens.

I can think of three medical evacuations off the top of my head:

Penner leaving from a leg infection
(Black) Russell passing out from dehydration
Colton whining and crying about a stomach ache

In all three cases, I remember previews teasing the situations much like this week’s previews tease Missy’s injury. Not to say that she’s definitely being evacuated, of course, but the fact that we’ve seen it teased in no way means she won’t.

Yeah, Keith was oblivious, he said as much and remains so.

Is it just me or does this season seem to be kind of a dud?

Not to me. Last week’s tribal council was riveting, with a well-implemented plan going up in flames because someone said “Stick to the plan.”

Also, the challenges themselves have been stellar. Instead of just “obstacle course to collect puzzle pieces” every week we’re getting interesting (and largely unbiased) challenges. Balancing the ball between pieces of wood was evil. Rolling balls down a paddle to stick six balls into six divots was tricky. The balancing table with a rope as you walk back and forth challenge is always excellent.

Plus, even though it fizzled, props to the producers for bringing back the “eliminate whoever you like” reward challenge. Though I agree they should have used the loaded questions like they used to. “Who is the most annoying?” hehheh.

Jon isn’t a threat. He’s stupid and not good at challenges. In my opinion there is no ‘it’s time to win this’ mode for him. His power is his alliance with Jac. She should have been voted off to break their power base. Natalie is playing recklessly and foolish. She’s never been a fave of mine but between this week and last I’m really starting to dislike her.
I hope Keith wins.

I think Natalie played this the right way. I think this play, her immunity idol find, and her “dude, play your idol” save on Jon give her votes in final TC regardless of whether Jon makes it. If Jon makes it, she says “Jon is here because I said so”. If Jon gets voted out, especially by losing to Keith, she can say “Jon is on the jury because I said so”.
