Bye bye Jon you stupid egotist. Next on the chopping block, Jac?
Mn. I think her hoped-for target will be Keith. He’s the only one left who has been strong in challenges AND he likely has more ‘story credit’ and ‘worthiness’ than any of the others for when it comes to the final vote.
How long do II last? I’m thinking Natalie can use hers to get into Final Four, but after that they’re no good?
That’s typically how it works, yeah. So she’s set for the next tribal.
Natalie’s next two targets should be pretty clear - Missy and Keith. Both have more compelling stories, and just generally seemed to be more liked, than Natalie. The good thing for her is that both Keith and Jaclyn have a good reason to want Missy gone, and if none of the remaining women want Keith around.
He big stumbling blocks are: Keith winning both immunities (unlikely, but possible), and the possibility of Missy/Baylor/Jaclyn gunning for her at final-4 (much more likely - even just Baylor forcing a tie would make her have to win a tiebreaker).
One thing she might consider is gunning for Missy first to break up the final pair. Missy can’t win immunity (can’t even compete, likely) and Natalie can’t be voted out at final-5. And if Keith doesn’t win final-4 immunity he’s an obvious vote for all of the remaining women. Natalie has to weight the risk of the Missy/Baylor/Jaclyn voting her out at 4 against the odds of Keith winning the final immunity challenge.
Or maybe her preferred final 3 is with Missy and Baylor? I doubt it, but I guess it’s possible. I’m not getting much of a read on how the jury feels about Jaclyn compared to Missy - but my impression is that Missy is more likely to get jury votes.
If we assume that Natalie makes the final three, then taking Baylor and Missy makes sense in that it allows her a chance at more jury votes. Otherwise, Wes votes for Keith, Jon votes for Jaclyn, or Missy/Baylor votes for the one of them that remained in the final three. Jon, Jaclyn, Wes, and Keith on the jury wouldn’t be compelled to vote for a loved one, and Missy and Baylor wouldn’t have an automatic vote from their loved one.
Doh! You spoiled this episode for me! The thread title was “Survivor 12/3/14” which was last week’s episode so I thought it would be safe to read this thread.
I’m getting more and more frustrated with this season. Usually whenever worthless contestants have gotten as far as the final five, it’s because they’re riding a stronger player’s coat tails. But there are no coat tails here. Everybody is just bumbling and fumbling their way to the end. Missy and Baylor are two of the worst players ever. They have done nothing except somehow not get voted out. (Although I give Missy some props for refusing to leave with an injured foot, which could gain her some jury votes, that’s not a substitute for actually having a strategy.)
Natalie is playing her ass off, but stupidly, and she’s a nasty person to boot. Jaclyn may be smarter than I think, but I doubt it. She seems to have no identity beyond “Jon’s Girlfriend.”
Which leaves Keith, whom I like the most out of the remaining players, and I’ll be least upset if he somehow wins. But he stopped playing long ago, and is essentially living by “Whew, I didn’t get voted out!” each week.
To sum up: I’ll watch the finale, say “eh, whatever,” wait for next season and hope it’s better.
Yeah, probably should split this thread off again like last time. If the date is in the title, start a new thread. Though next season will probably be one thread for the whole season.
I think Natalie’s preferred final 3 is her/Baylor/Missy, and she probably wins that. I could see Jaclyn being worse than Missy since it seems like people don’t like her, though. Keith probably wins against whoever he’s up against unless Natalie really sells it.
I admit, I thought Natalie made a poor move, but her plan worked out perfectly… got Jon out without giving up her Idol.
I’d be interested in seeing Jaclyn on Survivor in a normal season on her own. Tying herself to Jon clearly works against her. It’s possible she has no personality but she also seems to be much the smarter of the two.
Wheelz: I think we’ve finally reached the final stage of the Survivor metagame as it currently stands. People have finally gotten smart enough to take out the people at the top (and for the most part, they aren’t always smart enough to take advantage of their Idols). “Stick with your alliance” and “vote out whoever the power player is” are basically the two rules that get you the end, and when everyone is playing that way, it results in a season like this. I think they’ll need to shake up some big rules (and I’m not talking having loved ones, I mean things like randomizing tribes after every TC) or Survivor will be facing the end of the road.
Oops! So sorry. Honest mistake. Sorry sorry sorry.
Maybe. However, in episode 13 (broadcast Dec 10, 2014), John certainly seemed to come across as one of the dumbest Survivors every.
I just don’t understand why it is that someone as dumb as John winds up with one of the most beautiful women ever - namely Jaclyn.
I don’t know whether women find John to be extremely handsome. But, Jaclyn certainly is a real beauty and she is also extrmely clever too. I’m guessing that she has about 50 percent more of an IQ than has John.
No matter how you look at it, it’s just very, strange these two characters wound up together. Jaclyn is a combination of beauty & brains. But, John has very little in the way of brains and I have no idea just how attractive women find him. No matter how stupid people might think John is, Jaclyn will always be there to help him with simple math problems such as whether it would be better to buy or rent or when they should buy a home or just keep renting for a while. John just does not have what it takes to solve basic math problems like that. But Jaclyn has what it takes - in Spades!
They seem like a very odd couple to me.
I hope that Jaclyn wins the million dollars and then promptly dumps John. IMO, that would be perfectly fitting.
Jaclyn seems like the sort of person who enjoys having someone she can boss around. Jon is obviously very eager to please. Even their only spat on the show came because he just wanted to “spent time with her” and she wanted to strategize.
Also, I will never tire of seeing people say “God has a plan” then watching them immediately lose.
Yeah, Jon sure is up there as one of the stupidest player of the game. Jaclyn, not all hat bright herself, half figured it out but he just wouldn’t listen. I agree that Natalie needs to get Keith out next. She can easily win against any of the women since she pretty much controlled the game at the end.
I’ve split this into its own thread to follow what we’ve been doing this season. Sorry to whoever got this week’s results spoiled by being in the wrong thread. Next season, looks like we can do a single thread for the season – but could someone please start a new thread next week for the finale?
Thanks,
twicks
The SO doesn’t like Survivor, but she let me watch it live the last couple of weeks because there was nothing on that she wanted to see; so she watched that episode. She said that Jaclyn wanted an argument, and wasn’t going to be talked out of it. She pointed out certain things that women do. ‘I see exactly what she’s doing,’ she said.
I wish I could remember them. (Not that it would help, apparently.)
I think, at this point, the game is Nat’s. The only close contender is Keith, but he really hasn’t played the whole game-- just the “outlast” part of it. He’s good at the challenges, but he’s terrible at strategy. None of the remaining folks comes close to Nat in terms of playing the game. And I say that as someone who doesn’t particularly like her.
Jon’s post-boot interview on Rob Has a Podcast was very interesting. He claimed that, at some point in the game, the five (Jon/Jaclyn/Natalie/Missy/Baylor) had agreed that they would go to the final five and then vote out Jaclyn and Baylor. If that is the case, then it totally makes sense why Natalie was so eager to get rid of Jon–if she goes to final three with Jon and Missy, she’s automatically down two votes from Jaclyn and Baylor.
I agree with your logic but I also like her! Next favorite is Keith. The others are a toss-up for me. It’s been a weak season and hard to pull for anybody. I’m very glad Jon is gone and the only one in the jury I even cared about was Jeremy.
I can’t remember a weaker season.
I’m finding it an interesting season. I’m enjoying seeing how the partnering is playing out in the game, not having watched the first BvW season (boycotted because of Colton’s presence) – but any season that has no returning players is a good season, IMHO.
I think it’s certainly better than the last two seasons we had in Nicaragua, where Jud won one and Boston Rob won the other.
I quite enjoyed the first BvW season, and was looking forward to this one, but I agree that it’s been on the ho-hum side. Not the worst by far, but I was hoping for better.
With the finale next Wednesday, I think that explains why we got two episodes last week.
I think the TPTB were planning on the penultimate episode next week and the finale a week from Sunday. And they planned and produced according to that schedule.
Apparently something threw a wrench in those plans as for the first time in a long time (ever?) the Survivor finale is not on Sunday.
