Survivor 2/27/2013 There's Gonna be Hell to Pay

I hope no one else wants to start these threads - I’ll keep doing it until someone waves me off or beats me to it! Also - see, I even put the correct episode name in the title. Yay me.

So…from what the previews show - it is coming down to battles of/with the crazy people. The immunity challenges seem to have nothing on trying to hold the tribes together or not kill someone long enough to get to the challenges.

Let’s see if Brandon really does pee in the rice. That would be awesome. But I don’t think he has the guts to follow through on anything he says.

Shamar just needs to shut up and listen to Sherry.

Yeah, he’s an idiot. I hope he gets booted soon. He’s not even fun to watch.

I thought Shamar’s little speech about possibly quitting was interesting. I know he’s not the first to question his reasons. I found his experience in Iraq dovetailing his “going to that dark place” and “not wanting to be the angry black man” quite illuminating in that nobody else irealizing just how much war can change a person. Granted, he does have an aggression issue, but he’s not a bad person, IMO. He knows when to turn off someone who triggers him.

But Hope being eliminated? I honestly didn’t see that coming. Was she the one who couldn’t keep up swimming during the immunity challenge? (I swear it’s harder to tell these little blonde girls apart with every season…)

 Seriously? Last episode the Fans tribe was pretty clearly divided 6-4, with the 4 being the “popular kids” alliance of Allie, Hope, Eddie, and Reynold. This episode the 6 clearly stated their plans to eliminate one of the remaining 3 of Hope, Eddie, and Reynold. They also made comments about needing the strength of Eddie and Reynold in challenges, so sending Hope home was the obvious choice. The whole issue of forcing a tie and a revote was even discussed on camera. Tribal Councils don’t get much more predictable than this one.

Laura was the non-swimmer.

So Brandon’s rant from the previews was utterly meaningless and taken out of context. Big surprise.

I couldn’t believe Eddie called the vote “Revenge of the Nerds.” Seriously? Do the popular kids from high school actually not get that things have changed when they reach adulthood?

This was so striking that I actually thought it might be the show being ironic about itself. It was as if CSPAN advertised their coverage of an upcoming vote with a Vin Diesel trailer.

This particular group of pretty people do seem to be locked into perpetual adolescence.

Happily, they are dwindling.

Is Sherry the tanning booth victim? I thought her statement at Tribal about Shamar was one of the most concise and intelligent things I’ve ever heard on a reality show. Rarely does somebody simply nail it like that.

Unfortunately, they’re dumping the hot women first. As usual.

I would have said botox victim. But yes, she’s the one who explained how Shamar works, which he completely agreed with.

Of course, she also said on national TV “I own a lot of franchises. All my employees are 24 or younger, so I’m used to dealing with spoiled brats.” Wonder how productivity is at her franchises this morning.

I suspect these kinds of things are coaxed by the producers. Something along the lines of, “Brandon, if you were going to say something totally outrageous, what would it sound like?”

I know. WTF??

If they vote off Brenda before we get to see more (and I mean a lot more!) of her, I’m gonna throw my remote through the TV screen.

:thinks: You’re right – the Not-As-Cool-As-They-Think-They-Are 4. I missed most of what happened between Shamar’s little speech and the challenge, thanks to my husband who insisted on talking over the TV

Which is why we deserve an All Hot Women season of “Survivor”.

In her first season, she was one of the first jury members, so she went to the Ponderosa house for about 15 days. There she was all cleaned up and lounging by the pool in her bikini. Those videos were better than the actual show.

This season was a total tease. The premiere had two solid challenges, one reward one immunity, but all the regular (one hour) episodes have only had single combination challenges. Booo.

I liked the challenge, though. The past few seasons have been a little light on water challenges. There wasn’t a stupid puzzle at the end, which was also a plus.

Did anyone else think it was kind-of dumb of Hope to throw Shamar under the bus instead of considering what he said and maybe, hmm, turning against her losing alliance in order to stay in the game? If she’d voted Eddie, she would still be in the game, and been part of a strong alliance. Plus she was already “in” with Shamar who, though unliked and unlikeable, has had his butt saved (twice now… shudder. Abi, anyone?). It seemed to me she didn’t have much to lose by voting against her alliance… unless she was just scared of Randall having the immunity idol. I think more likely that she just wasn’t playing a good game.

Maybe she thought Shamar was getting misinformation from his “nerd alliance,” since I believe they told the “pretty alliance” that they were voting against him (so she though they’d all be voting unanimously against Shamar).

And why didn’t anyone mention splitting the vote between Randall and Hope, and possibly flushing out the immunity idol that way?

I wonder what would happen if Shamar and Ali hooked up. Ooooh, the next Heroes vs. Villains season?! (although, I actually find Shamar’s style even more annoying than Abi’s)

I read an interview by the first blonde who was voted off from the pretty people alliance. Her name escapes me and that’s good, but she said that Reynold (really, Reynold??) found the immunity idol hours before they showed it on the show, so that part was choreographed. Also, she said that the immunity challenges run much longer than shown and oh, she said several other interesting things, that I can’t seem to remember, now, but she did say something about being a part of the pretty people and she totally embraced being one of the pretty ones. Really? How humble.

Yes, it was discussed by the Fans power alliance during the show and the decision was to keep the two guys and lose the sole female on the pretty people alliance, because having two young, strong guys might help their tribe win the next immunity challenge.
