Survivor 44

Why would they relocate the final 5 to another beach?
And why did they expect that this would happen (bringing all their belongings to TC)?

They’ve done it the past few seasons. There’s going to be some sort of “find a secret advantage” challenge on the new beach.

Speculation is that the shorter seasons gives them less turnaround time between seasons, so moving them early gives them more prep time for the next season.

Not really a good explanation for Spring seasons, though.

“I want to smell your burps” may be the freakiest thing ever (on broadcast TV, at least).

And that’s that. About what was expected and I think it’s a decent outcome. But it’s the least angry jury that I think I have seen.

I was surprised Carolyn didn’t get a single vote. I guess I’d seen so much fawning adoration over her all season long on reddit that it tainted my perceptions. Even after Jeff had read four votes I was still expecting the next five to be all Carolyn. (Turns out there were eight jurists, not nine.) Then when she didn’t get a single vote I laughed out loud, delighted at all the outrage I was going to get to bask in. They are indeed outraged, but not necessarily because she didn’t win. Mainly just because Heidi got second place instead of Saint Carolyn.

What struck me funny in hindsight was the final sanctuary when Yam Yam was trying to convince Carson to vote Carolyn. I’m mentally screaming at the TV “Yes, Carson, you must!” And Carson is all “But is she a threat, really?” Credit where it’s due, he was 100% correct.

In the end I think Yam Yam is a solid winner. I would have preferred Carson, but close enough. Thinking back on all Yam Yam’s “if you vote for me you go home” talk, his early game was certainly more impressive than Carson’s.

Side note: The contestants in general have really upped their firemaking game.

I think the producers really need to make changes, as evinced by at least two contestants having practiced on previous puzzles, pretty much all of them know how to make fires and swim, and especially the way they brought all their portable gear with them to that TC from 6 to 5.

They probably should retire that roll the balls final challenge, too.

I feel like the fire-making challenge should have the string tougher and higher up. It’s not really about building a “good” fire, just one that burns big and fast.

Ugh. As I’ve admitted before, I skip over the emotional scenes. I don’t care. I skipped over SO much of the final tribal. Way too touchy-feely for me. I listened to the “strategy” portion of it, but the tears and gushing were just too much for me.

And I REALLY, REALLY hate the on-island immediately-after cast reunion thing. I want to hear these people talk after they’ve had a chance to sit back and reflect on their experiences, not when they’re in the huge emotional bombshell of coming in second or third. Numb contestants don’t do much for me.

And damn - the two minutes between Carson leaving scruffy and unshaven, then he’s back in the jury all clean, made him look like he’s about 12 again. It was a shock how much cleaning up de-aged him.

And I didn’t like Yam-Yam, so there’s that :).

Saw it, liked it, a winner I will actually remember.

I hope Yam Yam, Carolyn, and Carson can all come back for an all-star season. We are nearly due for one.

I think the show has been reborn since they got away from all stars, fans vs favorites, heroes vs villains, all that stunt casting nonsense…so as much as I liked these guys I hope we don’t see them again.

Surely season 50 will be returning favorites. That’s only a couple years; I’d be happy to see the Tika three come back then.

I didn’t really care of any of the players this season and felt that the winner didn’t convince me he was the best player.
He didnt have any outstanding moves, he did not made any decisions, he was always a lap dog following Carson.

Heidi, she won points by doing the fire challenge but other than that, I have nothing about her and Carolyn got a lot of airtime because of her personality, but she did a few moves worth mentioning.
But still not enough to win imo… so yeah, whoever won out of the three finalists was just as bad as the other two…
Not a very memorable season imo.

It seemed to me that they came to a consensus on every vote. It’s hard to say one was following the other.

Oh yeah. She certainly got the winners edit. The episodes were all Yam Yam & Carolyn, all the time.

I have seen enuf Carolyn to last forever. I enjoyed Carson.

Jeff was quoted as saying he wanted to give some players who were medicaled out another shot. eta- Bruce is coming back in 45.

He wasn’t. Just that everyone liked him.

My pre-ballot prediction was that Yam/Yam would get zero votes.

So close.

Yeah, I said out loud, “Yam Yam will get zero votes”.

What do I know.

mmm

Apparently the jurors get together and decide who to vote for in advance, me thinks.

I am tired of these blow out votes.

Off the top of my head, I think since they went to a Final 3, one of the 3 has always received zero votes. I’ll try to confirm.

The complaint I’ve been seeing is that we’ve had four seasons in a row where the final vote was 7-1-0.
