I was glad they had both fans & favorites in the final four, so when they did the memory hike, there’d be something to say about the first half-dozen people voted off, other than “Which of the three blondes was she?”
um, what? There was supposed to be a challenge that day anyway… maybe they just took one of the stations out of the House of Cards challenge? I don’t remember whether there was a fifth one they didn’t use, or a big empty space…
In the Ponderosa clip, they showed Reynold getting antibiotics for an infected leg wound after Andrea got voted off, so he had the leg wound when he arrived at Ponderosa, and still walked around on it for a couple days before he saw the docs about it. That’s kinda weird, although it may be by that point in the game that they’re all used to feeling miserable all the time and it took a couple days of rest and good food before he realized his leg still really hurt…
That’s what I meant, though I worded it badly. The producers wanted to do both challenges they had set up to use up TV time, so they had to convert one to a Reward challenge. But the reward they gave out sucked from a game point of view. There were only 4 stations.
I wonder if they would have set up the puzzle station differently if you were left handed? I’d have done the challenge with my back to the camera if I had to, so I’d get to use my left hand for the house assembly.
I wanted to see one of the Cochran confessionals where he was calling Phillip a deluded idiot played at the reunion. The whole Stealth R Us stuff got laughed at all during the game - the alliance worked for a while, the pretense was :smack: - but that hardly rated a mention. Except to pimp BR’s book.
Well, the final 3 were all members of Stealth R Us, so that’s gotta count for something… Also, I remember Phillip promising Sherri that if she went with SRU, she’d be the last fan standing, and that turned out pretty well.
Yeah, Michael tried to make the point that Dawn was taking heat while Cochran got off scot-free, but they were NOT in the same boat. Dawn was constantly having emotional breakdowns and constantly needed other people to prop her up. She made emotional connections. Cochran was in alliances with people but never made those emotional bonds. I don’t think Dawn quite remembers exactly what she said to Brenda when Brenda got her retainer back for her, but Brenda obviously took it to mean they wouldn’t turn on each other because they were so close. Cochran never made that promise. I think players understand that breaking alliances is part of the game (especially the returning veteran players), but not when you’ve made such an emotional connection. That’s why Andrea wasn’t bitter but Brenda was.
I think it’s always hard to analyze because every season is different. I think he played perfectly for the hand he was dealt - Phillip makes a great figurehead to sacrifice as the leader, and when you’ve got veteran beta-style players, it’s easy to band together and keep taking out the threats when they arise (Corrine, Malcolm, Brenda, etc.) Very very different dynamic from a season where someone like Boston Rob or Coach is the only returning player and gets everyone to follow them in almost a cult-like fashion because the newbies can’t think for themselves.
Which, ironically enough, seems to be exactly what Phillip was trying to do.

That’s what I was trying to get at - the alliance worked, but the looney tune names Phillip handed out made it bizzaro world. Could Phillip have had the same success without looking like a delusional idiot, or was his act an integral part of the alliance’s success?

I thought I saw that… they said 100/80, then Eddie did a little explaining about what that meant, then they did a close-up of the thingy and it said 100/70, and I thought… “rut-roh…” and they don’t want to just say out loud, “Hey, your BP’s dropping. How weird is that?” They just said “Time to go.”

Prediction regarding the Blood vs. Water premise:
Blood is in fact going to prove to be thicker than water! Initially this sounds like an interesting way to mix up the formula. unfortunately the way it’ll play out will be whichever families are intact come merge are going to team up together (I’m predicting two intact come merge) and gut the rest of the tribe. it’ll get interesting towards the end, but time will tell if it spices up the first half of the show…
I still Think they should go with an all homeless cast. Lots of great personalities to choose from!
