Argh, hit reply too soon, change competition to tribal council
Rikwriter stole my post - we’ll see, but Rob took a risk this way: Rupert could win immunity plus Tom hates Jenna – it is hard for me to see a downside for Rob at getting rid of Rupert here. I think though, Rob was a long time going there, not taking Tom on the reward even though he already knew Rupert and Jenna were plotting to get him (Rob).
I was very impressed with Rob pitting Rupert vs. Tom. He really cut that threat off.
It seems as if whatever the tie-breaker is will decide the final 2
Funny, funny Rob line about Tom not getting enough water
What was the deal with Tom’s voice this week? I’ve always been able to understand him, but this week he was incomprehensible.
Rob had better really be ready to play the “master of the game” strategy. Because his main tactic so far has been, “You absolutely positively can trust me…sucker!!!” Judging from the looks at Tribal Council, Lex, Alecia, and now Tom would vote Jeff the money before they’d give it to Rob.
My guess is that the big surprise will be bringing out other past players at the reunion show.
OK, I’ve become resigned to the fact that these guys are just too STOOPID to vote Rob off. So now I’m reduced to hoping that it doesn’t come down to a jury vote between Rob and Amber. What a waste of time that will be.
Jenna seems to think she is in some unshakable alliance with Rob and Amber, so maybe they’ll gang up on Rupert if he doesn’t win the IC.
After all thats transpired, I’m now convinced that both Amber and Jenna have a secret alliance thats not being shown.
I think the whole show from the beginning was setting up the big Rob-Father betrayel by Amber. Evidence made more clear tonight with Amber’s “I can smell the money” comment and the voting out of Tom instead of Jenna by Romber.
Final two will be a repeat of the last Survivor: Both Women
So did RAmber get anything going under those covers during the movie? Remember that full mouth kiss they gave each other back at the camp in front of everyone else? A sure way to win friends in the game <snicker>.
Rob is just too good for this crew, both physically and mentally. So they really have to get rid of him next if the opportunity presents itself.
Rupert seems a lot more surly that he was in his first show. He also continues to lose weight. You can even see a vein on his once fat arms now.
I’m mystified why RAmber turned on Tom instead of sticking with the plan and voting off Jenna. Had they played it that way, they could have taken Rupert out next and then Big Tom, leaving one of them with at least $100,000. But now, if Jenna or Rupert make it to the final two, then I think either of them will be chosen over RAmber. Nobody appears to like RAmber’s closeness. BUT! What if RAmber have an agreement that if one of them winds up among the final two and the other is on the jury, the one on the jury will do everything they can to manipulate them into voting for the one who made it? Then they can both get married and share the million dollars.
The worst possible outcome would be for RAmber to be the final two. If this happens, then I think Amber will win.
The big surprise at the homecoming show? Amber comes back engaged to Rob or pregnant!
On further reflection, I think I see why Tom got the boot.
When you’re a back-stabbing liar like Rob, it’s hard to believe that everyone else isn’t like you and it’s impossible to believe that someone might just stick to their word. Tom, not being the brightest rock on the pile, was nothing if not loyal. So RAmber probably were thinking that Rupert/Jenna would vote for Amber and they didn’t have any confidence that Tom wouldn’t switch alliances and stab them in the back. Paranoia got the better of them. So Rob probably went to Rupert/Jenna and offered up Tom as a sacrifice to [again] save Amber. Rupert/Jenna foolishly accepted, [again] getting manipulated by Rob.
What Rupert/Jenna should have done was pull to Tom aside and tell him the plan that Rob had proposed. Say if you don’t agree to vote off Amber with us NOW, then we will vote for you along with RAmber and you’ll be out of the running for good, sent to the jury, just like Rob did to Lex. What’s it going to be? Final 4 guarantee or the jury? I believe that planting the seed of doubt in Tom’s head would have been enough to get him to switch his vote.
I’m not sure Rupert was in the mood to listen to Tom, after Rob’s very clever little manipulative stunt. Rupert fancies himself as a man of honor, and he holds a grudge. Tom denying his own words likely pissed off Rupert so much that Rupert would never trust him again. I still don’t understand why Rob voted for Jenna. Since he calculates his every move, I’m convinced that he voted as planned. But when was it planned and what was the strategy? The jury was pretty disgusted by the whole thing. I suspect that Rob is planning to take Rupert with him to the final two, and manipulate Rupert into somehow pissing off the jury so that they vote while they’re mad at him, leaving Rob the winner.
He didn’t. Tom was the only one who voted for Jenna. See Link.
Two things about this: (1) I think it’s against the rules - there are really only two rules for “Survivor,” and one of them is that players can’t conspire to split the money (in however roundabout a way); and (2) the jury isn’t allow to “talk amongst themselves” about who they’re going to vote for - IIRC, they’re not even supposed to talk it about until after the winner has been named. So, no one juror can really influence all the rest.
Plus, with this particular jury, they’d have a hell of a time anyway. Especially after what happened with Big Tom Last night, it looks like there are four automatic “anti-Ramber” votes on the jury, unless the other person in the Final Two is Jenna, in which case I expect mass juror suicide.
And I have two twist theories: either (A) there will be more than the usual seven people on the jury (perhaps all the players who were voted out in this season), or (B) there will not be a Final Two, but a Final Three. Just a WAG, though - although it does sound like something that could happen (especially because there were three tribes to start with, instead of just two).
Have we stopped using spoiler boxes? Or does the Left Coast no longer exist?
I’ve noticed in the last couple of weeks that people have stopped using spoiler boxes in Survivor threads. Fortunately, I logged off early last night; otherwise the ending would have been ruined for me, as I had been expecting Rupert to go.
Please, East Coast Dopers, remember to use spoiler boxes.
Thanks.
Yup. Jenna has a secret alliance with Rob and Amber and next week she’ll turn on Rupert. If he wins immunity, then they’ll vote Jenna off with no real harm done because they probably only guaranteed her that they’d take her to the final 3.
per Jeff on a local radio interview, Survivor has two rules: 1)Contestants can not agree to split the money. 2) Contestants can not strike each other.
Heh, I will take my winnings now.
BTW- based on challenge performance, tribe management and skillful alliance building like him or not you have to admit Rob has been the best All-star and has earned the million.
Does anyone have any respect at all left for Lexx after his weekly face making efforts- what a complete loser. What a big petuant baby. The mohawk is just so needy of him too. Actually, I was thinking this is one of the worst juries we may have had in a while- probably since the jury gave underperforming coat tail rider “V” the money out of sheer spite.
The fact that Rob has bested them all amuses me to no end, and I am really starting to grow fond of him.
So am I.
This season is so damn borning.
Every episode goes exactly the way Rob wants it to. He is the only one that deserves to win…he has dictated the entire game.
And Rupert, Tom, and Jenna must be the dumbest people on Earth. Getting rid of Amber was the only shot they had. If they did that, then Rob would have to win immunity twice to make to the final two…now I think he is lock.
Does anyone have a link to a picture of Rob holding up his card? I watched it on DVR this morning and paused it because I was so shocked. Unfortunately, I erased it. If he voted for Tom, then his handwriting needs serious work.
If I read it right it said “Tommy” in very small script.
I think it is going to end up with Jenna and Amber as the final two, also. If Rob does make it, I don’t know if he is going to be able to pull off the votes. It seems like people are genuinely mad at him and hold no admiration for his strategy in playing the game, even though he has obviously been in charge this whole time.
Normally I would think he stood a chance since jury members tend to grudgingly admire someone who holds that much control, even if they are upset with him for lying to them. But I saw Tom on the Early Show this morning and he is still upset with Rob and talked about his disgust with his dishonesty. Usually by this time everyone is over it enough to admire someone who outlasted them, but he seemed genuinely upset with him. Not to mention Rob’s remarks about the stupidity of Tom’s son at his reward visit- he was very upset about that, although of course Tom would not have seen that before he voted on the jury.
