I don’t get attached to any other reality shows, I watch maybe an episode or two and stop (I have no idea what people think is the big deal about “The Amazing Race”). I very rarely miss an episode of “Survivor” though. I need the next season to start soon. Damn you Burnett for making me your bitch!
CBS is introducing the new cast this morning.
I am so looking foward to this season. I love Survivor. I wonder what night it will play this season.
I heard this guy David B has watched the show a coupla times.
And minty seems to have an opinion on everything significant.
Me, well, my kids force me to watch it. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

From the Drake tribe, I think this seasons Rob/Robb will be Jon. Christa strikes me as snooty, Shawn might be cocky and Rupert can go either way, either a know-it-all or a hoot.
From the Morgan tribe, I think Osten could possibly be the first member of the God Squad, Ryan O and Nocole may be a wee bit overconfident, Andrew is the male hottie and then there’s Ryan S. What can I say about a condescending teetotaler (sp?) who’s favorite moveie is Gummo?!?!?
I can’t wait to see how wrong I am!
and then there’s Rupert/Hagrid! With him touting his hunting/gathering skills, I think he’ll be on the list of one of the first to go, a la John the Preacher.
Hey… I went to high school with Rupert. I don’t really remember him much though since he was a few years behind me. I did slightly know his brother, and remember they were both good swimmers on the swim team. My wife knew him, and describes him as “very nice, and a really popular guy.”

At first glance, this is an interesting cast. They’ve got the typical complement of Hollywood-wannabe contestants who seem like nothing but eye candy and whom I immediately dislike (particularly pretty-boy Jon). But it also seems like there’s a good number of ordinary folks (e.g., Ryan O., Burton, Lillian) and interestingly eclectic people (esp. Rupert, Darrah, and dead-man-walking Ryan S.).
It’s also fun to note that they’re trying to stay a step ahead of the Smoking Gun with Christa’s bio, which says “She was once arrested for a misdemeanor and charged with ‘disrupting an officer’s ability to perform his duties.’ While in college, she hopped on her car and refused to get off the hood when she discovered it was in the process of being towed.”
It’s impossible to predict what kind of season it’s going to be until people start interacting, but I think this cast looks promising.
- There is no way Andrew is 40 years old.
- Shawn and Trish are my lock for the Final Four.
- I’m already in love with Darrah.
- Lillian will be this year’s “Ms. Irrelevant” being the first to be voted off.
- Nicole will be the bitch we all love to hate.
- I give Osten excellent odds.
- Three minorities?!? C’mon, Burnett. Reality TV is the one place that is easiest to get a cast that looks more like America.
- I’m also in love with Tijuana.
Quick first impressions: Nicole I think will irritate everyone immediately because she will be a non-stop talker (judging by the lengthy responses in the “Favorites” section on the CBS website). Rupert is a basic Vanilla American who will keep his cards close to his sleeve. I found it interesting that for a lot of them, Survivor was not listed as a favorite TV show. Ryan S. seems opinionated for such a youngster (“drinking is for the boring”). Could be the slacker that Burnett said would someday win. Jon is the quintessential surfer duuuuude except in the pro wrestling arena.

BTW, wasn’t there talk last season about this one being an “all-star” cast? I remember thinking there would be former contestants playing again. What happened to that idea?

Last season ended so badly that I convinced myself I’d never watch Survivor again. Can anyone change my mind?
