We’re here to enjoy and discuss the show, not to spoil it. This is not a Survivor board, certainly not a spoiler board, and spoilers do ruin many people’s enjoyment of the show. Thus, ALL spoilers regarding the course of the game should be avoided. Put 'em in a spoiler box if you feel compelled to post something, but better to avoid it altogether. Honestly, it’s generally not even that cool to be referring to spoilers.
Media fluff pieces and Smoking Gun-type stuff are fine, but don’t use that as an excuse to post stuff like “OMG! Janet said she can’t do media until after she gets kicked off! That means she loses!” And certainly don’t be posting spoilerish articles from sites like SurvivorNews. On the other hand, we link and talk about David B’s excellent news and interviews over at Reality News Online all the time, since his is not a spoiler site.
(BTW, David B, when’s your roundtable discussing the contestants going to be up? I get a particular kick out of that one.)
In general, stick to discussion of the show itself and the broadcast previews. We almost invariably have a weekly speculation/discussion thread that starts up the night before or the morning of each show. (Do NOT start new threads with titles saying who got the boot or who the winner is even after the episode has been broadcast, as that spoils the fun for our west coast and international Dopers.) They’re fun and interesting discussions from the typical fan’s perspective, and I look forward to cranking 'em up here in a few weeks. Please, join in!
levdrakon, let me second the question of where you found that info out! I did some searches of my own (finding out info about Andrew and Tijuana), and I did find some messages that Christa had posted, but they all were about computer programming. Nothing terribly revealing (other than where she worked and her e-mail address).
Similarly, Queen Bee, where did you find that out about Tijuana? I didn’t see it anywhere, though I admit I’m not the greatest searcher in the world.

minty, the Roundtable doesn’t usually come out until the week leading up to the premiere. Unfortunately, the guy who usually put them together for me is no longer writing for us, so I have to find somebody else to do it or do it myself. They’re rather time-consuming. Still, I’ve picked the winner two seasons in a row, so I have a lot to live up to!

Football doesn’t apply to me, but I see your point. Still, I felt manipulated and mislead. Can you (or anyone) convince me to continue watching? Maybe it was performance - or something. I’m not sure. But last season left me with a bad taste.
I thought I did. Just because you hate the team that won last year (to continue the football analogy) it doesn’t mean that a good team won’t win this year. So watch. You have nothing to lose.
David B, you want to know where I think levdrakon got the info? Well,
there is a thread on survivorsucks in the spoiler section regarding some posts Christie made on an drug use newsboard. Opinions flow both ways. Actually, a number of them have popped up regarding the same subject. The one in question is called Christie’s Booklist or something to that effect.
CurlyD A lot of people felt the same way as you. I was losing interest in Survivor a few seasons ago (starting with Africa, got worse with Marquesas and Thailand) but apart from the winner, I thought Amazon was the best season since the first. Every season will be different because of the players. There will be people who like and hate the winner. Yes, Burnett manipulates what we see, but that’s the fun of it, isn’t it? I guess that’s the attraction for a lot of Survivor fans for the spoiler boards – to try and stay one step (or three or four!) ahead of Burnett to beat him at his own game. I didn’t find any of the boards until after the second season, but I wonder if the Survivor sleuthing isn’t part of why Burnett starting tweaking the show. Who knows? I still look forward to each season with extreme anticipation – it drives my friends nuts!
I can’t wait to see this next season because of the new twists – brilliant, just brilliant!
As you can probably guess, I can’t wait for Survivor either. Right now, the only information we have on the CBS site about each contestant is what they choose to tell about themselves. What we will find out as the show evolves, is how each of these people handle constant tension and deprivation.
If you want to see how well these self-evaluations hold up, read the profiles from last season. Then you will understand how irrelevant much of this information is.
For me, the spoilers are the show! I love it. Perusing the survivor boards and analysing vid caps from promo commercials is the best part of the fun for me. Even when we are mislead or flat-out wrong, it is still fun to guess. Never before have I taken such an interest in the way a show is edited. Out of all the footage they shoot, I love to wonder why they choose to show us the bits and pieces that they do.
As for no Chill One this season…look again Queen Bee. Hoax? CBS plant? Lucky tourist? Hmm…let the games begin. No need to wait for Sept 18!
I agree that Chill One is the real deal. There is a new spoiler this season that some posters are comparing to Chill One. They are currently debating similarities in style to decide if it is a legit spoiler.
Crap!! If there is something out there similar to ChillOne, then I have to stop reading the boads now. I don’t want this season’s suspense ruined before it even starts like last one. Would that be the panama vacation spoiler? A yes or no will suffice.
Then again, after Tapewatcher from S3, people were trying to come up with similar editing theories after that too.
Anyone who lists his favorite color as #DDDDFF has to be the nerdiest Survivor to this date.
So, I have to disagree with the group. Though I don’t think anyone will reach Rob’s level of deviousness and strategic brilliance, I think Ryan S. will be the closest thing to this season’s Rob. Jon has potential though.
I’ve been totally avoiding that thread, eveanyn! I refuse to read anything that may spoil my enjoyment of the show like last season and I also refuse to believe there could possibly be two ChillOne’s in a row, but I’m not taking any chances! I swear I’m gonna’ go postal if I read it somewhere accidentally (let us know if its debunked!)

prisoner frankly, I don’t see Ryan S. lasting very long at all. Sort of like Janet from the Amazon-- I think he’ll realize that he’s gotten in way to far over his head. Plus, reading his bio/favorites, I get the impression he has a general contempt for others, so I just don’t see him being the brilliant mastermind. Also judging from the bio, he doesn’t appear to be able to follow through with anything he’s started.
One thing I do believe: the fan favorite will NOT win (because I think MB edits it that way to piss us off so we’ll come back again to see if the nice guy/gal will win the next time…) Ok, except for Ethan…but everyone griped about how that was the worst season ever, so I’m not sure he’d ever do that again.
