Survivor: Game Changers Starts on Wednesday

I saw a recapper say it’s Probst trying to fulfill his need to be a daytime talk show host now that his show was canceled.

I hear you about Zeke and “great talkers”, but I’ve always felt it’s an example of bad play to talk too much strategy at TC (other than at FTC of course). Better to save that stuff for the private interviews people only see later on TV.

Survivor hasnt been canceled, not by a long shot.

But his talk show was.

That was in 2012.

And you think that means he doesn’t have an inner frustrated/thwarted talk show host any more? :dubious:

Yes. I know.

Well, the end game is ere. Te last regular episode before the finale. However, with eight players left, there seems to be multiple eliminations needed to get down to three. If I read wikipedia right, it’s two tonight and three next week before final tribal council.

My handicapping and speculation:

Top players - Andrea, Cirie. Andrea is the best player left. Wins challenges, plays hard, and beats everyone who goes against her. The players resent er, but seem to respect her. Se’s a goner without immunity. Too bad, she deserves to win. They should have gotten rid of Cirie when they had a chance. Strength no longer matters, it’s about putting together an alliance with a bunch of really paranoid players while keeping a low profile. Just what Cirie is best at. I wouldn’t be surprised if Cirie pulls Andrea aside and ropes her in based on her neck being stuck out and then each being responsible for getting one more alliance member each. Cirie gets Michaela.

Middle ground - could easily win, just as easily lose - Troyzan, Culpepper, Tai, Michaela. Michaela made it through her annoying phase, now she’s needed. Tai has two idols, but he’s a bit clueless. More than a bit, actually. Troyzan also is clueless and has an idol. Culpepper has been surprisingly quiet since the middle of the show. He’s cruising.

Goats - Sarah, Aubry. I’m still not sure who these people are.

My guess: Cirie gets Andrea one or two more shots, then she’s a goner. Tai makes himself a target by exposing his idols. Nah, probably not. The two goats go. Troyzan just seems vulnerable without an idol. I predict a Final Three of Cirie, Tai, and either Culpepper or Michaela.

Cirie wins in a unanimous vote.

Sarah is at least in the middle, if not the top. She orchestrated the Debbie blindside, has the legacy advantage, and the vote flip advantage. She’s also playing the social game pretty well. I would put her tied with Brad, below Andrea and Cirie.

:dubious: Have we been watching the same show? Sarah’s gotten more airtime than anyone else over the past 4 or 5 episodes.

Holy crap.

What an amazing 2nd tribal.

I love it!!!

Can’t believe Tai didn’t play one of his idols.

I was a bit surprised he didn’t as well. Pretty gutsy or stupid or both given how chaotic that tribal was. Unless Tai told Sarah to steal his vote. But that seems unlikely.

I would LOVE to know what Sarah is thinking tonight on seeing this played back and knowing Cirie really was trying to save her.

Storms rolled through right as Survivor started. Dammit.
Would someone give me a brief overview?

I honestly don’t know if I can. There were two tribals, Andrea went home in the first and Michaela went home in the second, but the second tribal was insane. Check, out Dalton Ross’ recap tomorrow.

I don’t understand the Michaela vote. All these vulnerable strong players and they take out one who has zero chance of winning?

Yes and Yes!!

This is turning out to be one of the best seasons. Normally I wouldn’t like so many advantages, but I’m cool with it here. Cerie seems like the hands down winner to me if she can make it to the end. But she doesn’t stand a chance at a challenge, so good luck!

I think Sarah knew Michaela was getting 2 votes already and she could guarantee the outcome with her two votes. And probably was pretty pissed at Cerie for trying to play the advantage so voting out Michaela hurts Cerie’s game.

Yeah, I can’t decide if Tai is a genius or a lucky moron. Though as BeepKillBeep points out, Sarah may well have told him her plan.

This is my guess too. They didn’t show us Sarah talking with Brad/Troyzan, but it seems clear she knew how they were voting, and so she threw in with the group she could trust at this point.

First immunity challenge was a “stack tiles until you’re above the line” challenge, with the added bit of it being on a moving platform that required holding the balance. Aubry won. At the vote, Brad seemed like the logical vote, but the women started thinking they should maybe devour one of their own, and Andrea got voted out over Brad 6-2.

Second immunity challenge was filling a tube of water with a holey bucket, then grabbing the key and completing a puzzle. Culpepper won. Sarah told Cirie about her “steal a vote” advantage and gave it to her (to hold) as a way to show her loyalty. Aubry reported to Cirie that Tai was thinking about taking out Sarah, but Tai had told Sarah he was loyal to her, which Sarah believed. Cirie did not believe this, and tried to convince Sarah she was in danger.

Cirie then hatched upon the plan of using Sarah’s advantage to steal Sarah’s vote and vote out Tai (protecting Sarah). She realized this was going to upset her, but figured once Tai got voted out, Sarah would appreciate it. At TC, when it came time to vote, Cirie announced she intended to use it, but Sarah pointed out that it was non-transferable and couldn’t be stolen. Probst had Cirie read the rules and confirmed that it was indeed non-transferable. At this point, lots of private conversations broke out - Sarah whispered to Tai, Cirie and Michaela tried to convince Sarah they were on her side, etc. Sarah took it back and then used it to steal Tai’s vote. Culpepper, Troyzan, and Sarah’s two votes sent Michaela home by a 4-2-1 vote over Tai (Aubry and Michaela’s votes) and Aubry (Cirie’s vote).

I’m starting to finally wonder about Sarah winning… while she’s gotten a lot of attention early on when she shouldn’t (usual signs of a winner) and she has been playing pretty well, she’s also burning a lot of people. I can’t see Sierra or Michaela voting for her, so she’s already in a 2 vote hole if Sarah makes it to a FTC. On the other hand, it depends who she’s there with. Maybe Michaela would vote for Sarah if the other two options are Brad and Troyzan.

I’m disappointed Andrea went home, but not surprised… she just simply didn’t seem to have mustered any strong connections at this point. Zeke had flipped on her and Cirie and Sarah were ready to get her out and didn’t need her any more. I’m still rooting for Cirie, but feel like tonight’s episode blew her chances away.

If people didn’t see Cerie as the scheming mastermind she is before, they sure do now. Next week should be exciting!!

That’s a very good summary, the only thing I would add is that at one point Tai was whispering in Sarah’s ear while Cerie was whispering in the other.
