Survivor airs tonight (Wednesday) because CBS airs the NCAA basketball tournament, which starts Thursday.
No spoiler boxes for this episode once it airs, so if you want to read pre-show discussion, it is entirely your responsibility to read the post timestamps to make sure you don’t get spoiled. Or – and I know this sounds crazy – you could actually look at the clock before you open the thread.
Here’s the synopsis from tvguide.com, which is actually a bit more spoiler-y than I was expecting:
One castaway leaves the game prematurely and another one is voted out at tribal council; the romance between Amanda and Ozzy heats up; a bond develops between an eager fan and a willing favorite; and one player tricks a person who fears water by taking him or her on a long boat ride in the middle of the water. Jeff Probst is the host.
I can’t imagine why they keep Cirie around… she has no physical abilities, and limited mental skills in challenges… she sure didn’t help at all this epi…
I have to think that there was a lot more to Kathy’s freakout than we saw. At least, I hope there was – not because I wish her ill personally, but because most people almost have to be dragged screaming off the island no matter how bad things are going for them. I’d like to think it takes more than what appeared to be a few minutes of crying to get them to come out there to get you.
I’m not defending her, but I thought she was doomed from the start. I didn’t figure she’d just quit. There’s got to be more going on there.
I would’ve felt a lot worse for Kathy if she hadn’t actually gone to the trouble of volunteering to be on Survivor in the first place. No one held a gun to your head and forced you to be on the show. So stop whining!
That’s why I think stuff happened that we didn’t see, because you’d think anybody who was motivated enough to go through the whole selection process would be really super motivated to stay in the game.
Or else the producers deliberately picked a bunch of losers (at least as far as being on Survivor goes) and didn’t tell them that they got picked for that reason.
I was happy to see Tracy go as I really really disliked her. But at the same time I have to wonder what invisible skill Cirrie has that keeps her around. Didn’t she last a pretty long time at the last one she was on? WHY??
Meh, Kathy was probably dehydrated and sleep deprived. Shit like that makes people crazy, especially if they haven’t experienced it before. I’ll cut her some slack.
Boy, the Erik and Ozzy man-crush is quite amusing. Erik is all fanboy gaga, and Ozzy is sucking it up to some extent. Although from the previews Erik may have broken some ribs next week. Ow.
The whole “ooh, let’s blindside Ozzy!” thread was just a waste of time. Ozzy seems far too tuned-in to let something like that happen, and the fact he didn’t use the HII tells me it was all talk. Ami may entertain dreams of gaining control, but she’s not in a position to do that. Yet.
As far as the rest goes, Ozzy summed it up: “none of us are going home”, meaning the original Faves alignment is in control, and, for now, it doesn’t matter if Ozzy’s tribe loses challenges, they have several Fans to vote out. If the merge is more than two episodes away, this strategy will be in jeopardy, but for now they’re all fine with losing ICs.
I agree, I really don’t understand (and have never understood) why Cirie survives. When she was indecisive a couple or more weeks ago about who to vote off, the two factions should have voted her off, just like that deaf girl, Christy Smith, on Survivor: Amazon, who was arguably behaving the same way Cirie was, playing both sides and refusing to make a decision.
It’s possible they keep Cirie around because she isn’t as much of a physical threat as others. They can use her to get rid of who they want. She’ll be easy to beat in individual immunity after the merge then they can easily get rid of her. Right now they seem to be focusing on getting rid of whomever isn’t in their alliance. After the merge they’ll get rid of her after using her to vote off the bigger threats.
Of course, I could be wrong but that’s my take on it.
I wonder about what all we aren’t being shown. Several times now there’s been a plan to get rid of Ozzy but nearly everyone who agrees with it flips.
I liked Ozzy his first season but this time he’s really getting on my nerves.
I still haven’t started rooting for anyone. I don’t like any of them well enough to want to see them win.
OMG, I think they showed a solid 10 minutes of her whining. I was so glad that damn boat came to get her.
And Jeff, that sexist SOB, didn’t give her even a little grief about it, although he’s laid it on thick with guys who quit. God, he is really getting on my nerves.
Well, Jeff gave Osten (I don’t remember what season) a lot of grief about quitting because the guy was obviously super-healthy and shouldn’t have been as lame-stricken as the other people on the tribe. I don’t know if that’s sexist, but Osten was a really healthy guy who was scared of frikken pelicans, and was basically freaked out, and that’s why he left. So, you may have a point – Jeff and the show gave Osten no respect, but Kathy tuffed it out for quite a while, where my recollection is that Osten basically gave up and repeatedly asked to be voted out right from the start.
