Survivor: Game Changers Starts on Wednesday

It reminded me of some kind of business casual version of Michael Douglas’s clothes in Falling Down.

And really, as much as he loves the show, I don’t think it’s good for HIM. Every season he’s in he’s just squeezed into a moral position that’s abhorrent to him and it breaks him down completely. I’d rather he get to remain Tai the Buddhist Lover-of-all rather than having to force himself into the Tai the Survivor Schemer costume with the internal spikes.

That’s right: they did make one legit attempt to get Sarah out (Sierra must be doubly kicking herself). But then why did they drop it after that?

Honestly, I find that whole bit somewhat disingenuous, given how often he betrays alliances.

Did anyone else catch that they accidentally spoiled Aubrey not making it to the final 3? In the live opening, the camera pans to show her with the rest of the losers, then quickly pans back to Jeff once they realize she’s in the shot. I don’t think she was supposed to be there.

When he first walked in through the players sitting together? All the players were there including the final 3 - I definitely saw Brad, Troyzan and Sarah. I think the cameraman just didn’t realize Jeff was going to stop walking forward, so he just swooped back in.

It’s on the CBS website - Sarah is in the back row on the right, between Zeke & JT, Troyzan is in the 3rd row on the left, next to Michaela, and Brad is in the 2nd row on the right, next to Tai.

“Heroes” is actually the one I have the most problem with, since 1) we already had “Heroes vs Villains” and 2) there’s a lot of overlap between Heroes and Healers. I’m fine with Hustlers, though I admit my original thought was that it would be in the more negative connotation, like hustlers would be ambulance-chasing lawyers and used car salesmen. Instead we get stuff like “bellhop” or “mover.” (A partial cast list shows an actuary and a former NFL player, might also fall within that category?)

Heroes last time was “good guys of the games”. This time it’s military, cops, and the like. Healers are doctors and folks in the medical community. I don’t see much overlap, if any.

Is a full cast list out yet? Because I’m guessing there’s going to be some stretches, like always.

I have no idea, but you’re probably right. Especially in the Hustler tribe. What I think they really mean is “low paid workers who do the shit work”. Like the “personal assistant” and the bell boy.

They should do a City vs Country season. Or even like a Ryder Cup version: US vs Europe.

Indeed. Can’t wait to see the post hoc justifications, LOL.

Unofficial title of this season was Headcases, Hams, and Has-Beens.

You don’t see how doctors and such could fall into a “heroes” category? I mean, yes, I understand Survivor’s distinctions, but I think they’re crappy names for the categories (forced by needing to go with an “H” name for each category).

Haven’t seen a full cast list yet, but here’s a partial one. List of professions, with my guess on tribes:
Heroes: Ex-Marine, Wilderness Field Instructor, Firefighter, Lifeguard

Healers: Urologist, Physical Therapist, Nurse Practitioner, Sport Psychologist/Therapist

Hustlers: NFL Player, Brand Ambassador, Personal Assistant, Mover, Bellhop

???: Actuary, Grad Student, Program Associate
If a doctor put his life on the line to save a patient, yes. A hero is someone who exhibits an unusual amount of courage, which rarely applies to doctors.

Right, would have to be a member of Medecins Sans Frontieres or someone like that.

What is a “Program Associate”? Do we have a winner for the blandest, most generic corporate job title ever?

A grad student is probably a hustler.

And how can an actuary possibly fit any of those three categories?

LOL, nice. You coin that?

So the wilderness field instructor & life guard don’t count either, I’d assume.

I suppose there is an element of strength and “action” involved.

I don’t know. Do they not put their lives on this line? If they don’t then I agree. I’m not tied to any Survivor actions.

After a few episodes, Jeff will say “Drop your buffs,” the three tribes will be rearranged, and the categories won’t matter anymore.

Nevertheless I’m looking forward to a season with all new players—and maybe players who actually applied (as opposed to being recruited). I’d be perfectly fine with never seeing Ozzy, Cirie, Sandra, etc., ever again on Survivor. Enough is enough.

I wouldn’t mind a season of returning players if it was a “Sane vs. Crazy” lineup—Yul, Pavarti, Sophie, etc., vs. Phillip, Shambo, Coach, etc. But no Debbie.

I’m late, just watched the finale last night. I didn’t really care for Sarah through the season, but I have to give her props, she played to win. I had never had a problem with Culpepper, but the final episodes he came across as such a bully, I was happy to see him not take it. He can blame it on editing, but it was very obvious what he was doing.

That’s a brilliant idea (though I’d definitely want Debbie). And you’d need both Hantzes.
