Hmm, the way I read the conversation, you say he’s wrong, but then go on to detail all the reasons he’s right. Somebody parsed a post wrong, though it could easily be me.
Pretty sure it was you.
My paraphrase:
thinksnow - Nay is the most horrible person to ever be on the show.
singular1 - I’m shocked you would believe that. Coach or Russell are inarguably the most horrible.
wilbo523 - singular1, you are wrong. Russel’s badness was strategic gameplay. Nay’s badness is just someone being bad with no strategy.
Not to further belabor the point, but I think it was you, actually. The way I read it was:
“Given the rascals of past seasons, it is shocking that you can say someone from this season of Survivor! is the worst. However, you must grant that is, in fact, the case, despite the rough character of those former unsavory players. It is an inarguable fact that the person in question this season is the worst.”
Your analysis was right on point, so I think we can allllllll agree that Nay is just a bad person, plain and simple while the others at least had something they were trying to do, other than be a sociopathic, mean-spirited, angry (for no observable reason), klepto biznatch.
I’m with Ellis Dee - I read singular1’s post to mean “I’m shocked that someone would say Nay is worse than Coach & Russell, and that that statement is true.”
Me too. “Before this season started, I would never have thought it would be possible for someone to be a more horrible person than Russell or Coach, but Nay managed to do it.”
My apologies to singular1…we are all in agreement.
Does anyone find it odd that the really nasty players seem to find a HII so that they stay on past their normal shelf life? Hmmm.
True, but to say that Nay found it is a stretch. She dug in the place she was told and grabbed it first.
Nasty and vile players have stayed long in the game without ever finding HII’s. See Coach-Tocantins, Randy-Gabon
Non nasty and vile players have found HII’s. See Sugar-Gabon, Taj, Brendon - Tocantins
I don’t find Coach to be either nasty or vile. A complete and utter blowhard, certainly.
I disagree. The time to act is now.
IMO, the four players in the best position right now – if they bother to do something about it – are Ben, Fabio, Kelly and Chase. They have to know how dangerous the Brenda/Sash/Nay alliance is, and that those three would throw any one of them under the bus without a second thought. Somebody ought to realize that they need to kill that alliance ASAP. The foursome could easily pull in Marty and Holly to get the numbers.
If they wait, and Marty is the next to go, their job becomes more difficult, as Jane and Dan both seem to be taking orders from the Axis of Evil. It’s time for a bold move.
ETA: But I know it’s much more likely that this bunch of mopes will just continue to mope along and not do anything resembling strategic play. sigh
At this point I think I’m rooting for Marty. I’ve hated him all season, but apart from a bizarre obsession with getting Jimmy Johnson out he hasn’t seemed to be much of an asshole. Now that Alina is gone, he’s really the only option left. What am I gonna do, root for Sash’s Alliance of Racism? sigh
Agreed. The first position on the Villains tribe for Heroes v. Villains 2 is a lock…
Yeah. Very. And I’m still not sure why I’m watching.
I can’t stand any of these people. Kellie B. was the last likeable person on the show.
Nay makes you almost want to say nice things about Russell. Almost. I’ve read that she was recruited. I wonder if she scored high on a test of sociopathy and that triggered someone’s interest.
I’ll disagree again, but only to say that we’ll never know the better strategy until we’re out there. My argument for being unable to act now, is that you’d have to convince someone that being #3 in your group (when there are still 11 ppl) is better than being #3 in their group (who they’ve been playing with the whole game). Until the totem-pole challenge when they all realize they are not #3, but rather #s 5,6 or 7.
I do like your idea of trying to break up the major alliance, but again, when the people you are trying to convince, think that THEY are at the top of that alliance it’s a no sale. For example, you put Chase out of the Brenda/Nay/Sash alliance, but what if Chase thinks he is at the top of a Chase/Brenda/Sash alliance? You’re not going to get him to vote out either of those 2, nor are you going to get him to vote out Nay, who he believes they have on their side for votes.
That said, I think people start seeing the writing on the wall when the totem-pole challenge happens and you get knocked out by those who you thought were you most trusted allies. That or once the chaff starts getting culled and all that are left are ‘insiders’ and the blindsides begin. As boring as this season is, I think the blindsides are going to be pretty great towards the end-game.
Last week I said I was done but decided to give it a shot because the merge might have mixed things up. I made it 10 minutes.
Hate this cast. Worst season ever.
As someone who sent in an application for Season 1, and many since then, I’m not sure how well I can articulate my feelings on hearing that people are recruited.
Suffice to say, they are not happy feelings.
I was rooting for Kelly B. to win. Then I was rooting for Jill to win. Now I’m rooting for Jane to win.
But personally, I am secretly holding out hope that Fabio will win it all.
Maybe I’m just a *Survivor *push-over, but I’m liking this season OK. I think it got better after the merge, that is, last night. But I really wish they would get rid of NaOnka. Stealing food should be a capital offense on this show. I guess she’s going for the “take me to the final vote since everyone hates me” strategy. Or, maybe she’s just oblivious to what a grade-A asshole she is.
