Survivor November 7 "Dead Man Walking"

Since I’m a Giants fan, I put the most positive spin on it: he’s saying he’s totally pissed off because he’s an intense competitor and hates to lose. It’s not the money, because he’s got a huge pile of it (with gratuitous shot at Obama) that dwarfs the prize money in comparison. But he’s comparing losing at Survivor to losing a World Series (which he’s done, 2002).

I completely lose track of alliances and Machiavellian machinations, so what happened at TC went whoosh.

Hilarious quote from The Ponderosa videos:

Can’t stop laughing.

That was the most baffling vote I’ve ever seen. Even after I went back and looked at eveybody’s votes I was still confused. No idea what Penner was thinking. IMO opinion, it’s not in Lisa’s or Skupin’s best interests to remain loyal to the Rude Alliance. Carter seems to be a simpleton who doesn’t really know what he’s doing. And Kent’s obsession with getting rid of the returning players is ultimately what cost him his torch.

It seems like every season there’s an individual or group that gets and keeps a position of power for no discernable reason. Pete, Artis, and Abi-Normal shouldn’t be controlling this game, yet they are. Everyone else keeps passing up prime opportunities to blindside them, and it’s getting late.

Remember that a big part of the dynamic post-merge is figuring out who you want to sit next to at Final Tribal Council, i.e. the people who will garner the least jury votes. Unlikable people tend to stick around because the strategists want to keep them around for final, betting they (the strategists) will be able to get more votes. This season the poster child for Preferred Final Partner is Abi, simply because she is not seen as a threat to get any votes, and to a lesser degree, Pete (possibly because of his alliance with Abi).

Me too. I’m worried that a silly reality show like “Survivor” has become too complex for me to follow.

It’s always been too complex for me – I grasp only the most obvious of the basics of strategy, like you want an unlikeable twit in the finals with you – but I love watching it anyway.

True enough, but the irony is that in trying to engineer who they’ll sit next to at the final TC, players often jeopardize their chance to get to the final TC in the first place. This seems to be what Lisa is going to realize next week, possibly too late.

So when Penner won immunity I said to my wife that they will obviously vote out Skupin, but the editors will try to make it look like someone else might get the vote to keep the suspense. And then all hell broke loose.

I think Malcolm and Denise have the best chance to win at this point. Both are well-liked and both got a ton of brownie points for surviving the catastrophe that was the Matsing tribe. Malcolm is a bit of a target right now because of his challenge skills (and HII) but he seems to know how to play it correctly. And Denise has gone back completely after the radar since it was pointed out back in week 3 that no one would want to sit next to her in the Finals.

I don’t care who wins as long as it’s Denise.

That’s right Jeff. No one ever had to pay taxes before 2008. Classless right to the end. I would rather have seen Pete go home, but I am not sorry I don’t have to hear from you again.
