Survivor: One World March 7 2012

You have got to be kidding me.

This is allowed?

Wow, Colton really bugs me. I hope he gets voted out.

I am completely bum-puzzled.

I was going to say that!

Damn, but that has got to be the most monumentally stupid thing any tribe has ever collectively done in this game.

I sure glad they sub-titled “bum-puzzled” or else my DVR would have got worn rewinding trying to figure out what he said.

Colton is beginning to approach Russell in my least favorite survivors.

Did Leif sleeping in the crate with the top on it? Coffin-like. And he is a plebotomist? Now that is creepy!

Colton has to be the biggest bitch ever in the history of this game.

I’m not sure if Colton is either an evil genius or the men’s team is extremely stupid. (I’m guessing it’s a little in between). I don’t know how (and I wish they had actually shown us the process instead of making it a surprise) but he somehow convinced two guys both on the chopping block that going to tribal would be a good idea.

Anyway, judging by the preview, it looks like in the next episode

there will be a tribe shake-up. Which I think could be the most interesting tribe shake-up ever.

I can’t say I really love anyone on the cast so far, but I am loving this season. As far as I’m concerned, the “one camp” twist is the best thing the producers have come up in a long time. I’ve been wanting them to do this ever since that fake merge they did a long time ago.

I’d rather a tribe full of Russells than that little bitch Colton.

This season will only be redeemed by Colton getting eaten by a shark.

Slowly.

Colton calls Leif an “oompa loompa” and a “munchkin” and Bill “ghetto trash” and yet you know if one person ever said anything remotely anti-gay he would completely flip out about how bigoted they are.

Wow, what a massively stupid thing to do.

The men really need to blindside Colton.

Colton is a nasty little piece of work isn’t he?
What a stereotypically perfect example of wealthy conservatism.

Absolutely unbelievable.

Seriously. At least Russell was a genius. I don’t understand how anyone is stupid enough to go along with Colton. Throwing a challenge was arguably dumb, but giving away tribal immunity? And everyone voted Bill, which means that either 1) Colton convinced everyone to act like they were going to vote off Leif and put on a whole show and dance, or 2) he went to everyone after the decision to go to tribal and one by one got people to vote for Bill instead. Either one doesn’t say a lot about the rest of the guys. Why are they taking orders from this guy?

Would you want to go against Colton? The “misfits” know he has an idol, and he’s totally sharp enough to realize they’re planning to blindside him (especially with a blabbermouth like Tarzan around). So if you know you can’t vote him out, why would you risk going against him? Plus a smarter player like Jonas can let him burn his way through the game and join in the backstabbing when necessary, but what an amazing shield, right? Jonas could ride Colton’s coattails to the very end!

And I don’t think this was any stupider than throwing a challenge. The rationale was weird – let’s clear up social strife by voting someone off? – but I actually think it will have worked, so…? Obviously Colton’s a megalomaniac, but it serves almost everyone’s purpose to let him maintain his hold on the game. The comparisons to Russell are apt, although Russell played a much trickier game that got him far–aligning with nearly everyone-- whereas Colton is making his allegiances very clear, which I imagine isn’t going to work but who knows?

Here’s probably what happened. Colton gets the idea to give away immunity. He asks the producers if that’s allowed. Producers love unprecedented “big risk” moves, have a pow-wow and tell Colton they can do it only if it is a unanimous decision.

That’s fair, since the men won the immunity challenge together as a tribe. And it seems inconceivable for Bill and Leif to go along with it.

But given these parameters, Colton hatches a plan to get out Bill (his target all along) by getting Leif and the others to play along with a manufactured story. This suckers Bill into consenting to give away their immunity. The other men figure they’re in no danger, so they go along.

By voting as a team, they solidify their tribal dynamic, cut out the annoying “cancer”, make Colton feel like he’s the big shot and possibly gain some good will with the women tribe. Bill did seem to be a rather annoying clown, so perhaps he was insufferable.

So you’re saying that Tarzan’s spiel about how horrible Lief was, was just a ruse known to everyone but Bill?

We’ve seen tribes throw a challenge and it’s usually bitten them in the ass by losing the next few in a row.

As for going against Colton, yes I would want him and his idol out of the game.

There’s always the blindside angle; the threat of the idol is worse than actually playing it, so he needs to keep it for more than one vote. Convince him he’s got it, then vote for him. Of course, as you said, with blabbermouths on the team…

But the real answer is just ignore him. Sure, you can’t vote him out, but why do what he says? Every one else can decide what to do on their own, and it’s just one vote.

I think everyone really did hate Bill for other reasons (annoying, “wishy washy”, though most of that wasn’t shown on screen) so they’re okay going along with him for now. And they did override him last vote (going Matt instead of Bill).

At least throwing the challenge allows you to say 1) we didn’t waste any effort and 2) we didn’t really lose. Giving up the reward of an earned immunity doesn’t give you either of those. Also, lots of talk about momentum.

Also, when Russell’s tribe threw the challenge, they were up 2 people. The men were only up one, now they’re even. You always want numbers going into merge. Always. Especially with someone like Colton on your team.

Especially since they’re about to do a tribe swap. Wouldn’t it be great if Colton gets switched to Salani and the new idol rules force him to give up his Manono-specific idol?

Except for the teeny, tiny matter that he’s a faggot.*

  1. Colton is just a sad case. So angry, so off-putting, so lost. If my son (or daughter) were to go on a reality show, and tell a poor person to “quit with the poor person act” or to “get a real job,” I’d be mortified. And the eye and head-rolls! How embarrassing. Honestly, I don’t know why they’ve chosen to give Colton such power, but at least it makes for interesting t.v.

  2. The men giving up their immunity was the stupidest move I’ve ever witnessed. The only man with a working brain is, ironically, the model.

  3. What’s up with Leif? I mean, honestly, dude, if you’re going to go and flip to the other side, then you HAVE to: a) not be sooooo obvious that you’re chumming up to the enemy; and b) be able to tell a convincing lie. When the queen called him to the castle for interrogation, he should have lied. Obviously, he’s a TERRIBLE liar (which, of course, is a good thing), so he needs to stop trying to be a conniver because it ain’t going to work. Also, it looked like he’d been crying at the tribal council. I like him, but he’s got a lot to learn about suriving on a game like this.

  4. Have no idea what Tarzan’s speech was all about. Colton is misunderstood? Who brought up race? And if we should all judge a person based on his merits, and his merits ALONE, what the hell does Colton bring to the table? He doesn’t work. He’s annoying. He’s condescending. He’s hypocritical. He’s divisive. And, most importantly, he led a group of seemingly normal, intelligent men to give up their immunity.

  5. A tribe merge? How positively delicious.

*I normally don’t use such words, but it’s what the stereotypical conservative that you’re referring to would call him.

Requisite “I can’t believe what a stupid move that was.”

But anyway, do we know that the entire tribe had to unanimously agree to give up the immunity idol? I think I heard one of the players say it, but was it confirmed by Probst? If not then would they have only needed a majority of the tribe (which I still find incredible) to agree to give up immunity with the producers saying “Too bad, that’s the vote?”
