Make your final calls here. I’m actually going to go out and say:
Chelsea
Kim.
Way to go out on a limb there, John.
For the most part, a nicely non-bitter interrogation round from the jury.
Hey, there are only 4 choices! But Kim is only at risk if she doesn’t win immunity. Even if she does, the remaining folks seem clueless about getting her out.
If Kim is voted out, I’m going to say Sabrina wins over Chelsea, as I think she’s better liked and seen as playing a more active game.
No way Christina wins. No way.
ETA: I live in CA, so we’re still over an hour away from showtime.
I hope this all ends with them all holding hands and singing “We are the World.”
Yep, pretty surprising. I’m happy Leif came straight out and asked why he was voted out, because that’s really what most jurors really care about. They just dance around the question.
Kim wins 7-2
Jeeze Jeff, can’t you at least acknowledge the presence of the first two people out?
I’m glad the audience in the Ed wasn’t buying Colton’s routine. I’ll bet he’s one of the three returnee’s referenced in the promo for the next season. He was right about one thing, it got boring after he left. Tonight was no different. It’s was obvious who was going home but lame attempts to generate doubt ensued until Christina’s torch was snuffed.
If Colton is back next season I refuse to watch it until he dies painfully.
Speculation on the three returnees: The burn guy from season two (Australia), the black guy who I thought just might die, and Colton.
I refuse to watch Colton.
Random thoughts:
Man, Christina just continued to play a terrible game. Kim all but said she might’ve been swayed in her final 4 vote, but when Christina didn’t try to convince her, she wasn’t going to convince herself. And Christina’s argument wasn’t something like “Chelsea can beat you, I can’t” or “Kim, if you vote me out, I will not vote for you to win” it was “Sabrina doesn’t deserve it.” She really had no clue how to play this game. And how does she end up aligned with Alicia at the end?
We all knew Alicia was incredibly full of herself, but she really took it to another level in this episode. At least at the reunion show she seemed to realize that she was actually on the bottom the whole game and was not the “Queen of the Social Game” she thought she was. And Probst got her to cry. (I hope she gets fired.)
Not convinced at all by Colton’s apology and I’m glad Bill didn’t seem to accept it either. I hope the people at CBS realize the vast majority of people despise him and don’t want to see him. Russell was an excellent, entertaining villain. Colton is just disgusting. (And I’ve lost respect for you, Ms. Amy Farrah Fowler.)
All in all, this season started somewhat strong, though it was more because the tribes both had their problems (women couldn’t win immunity, men were idiots). It did get a bit boring after Colton left simply because no one wanted to stand up to Kim. Troyzan tried but didn’t realize it until it was too late and he had let his friends get voted out. And he really came off as a sore loser.
Speculation on next season’s returnees… here’s the list I made a few weeks back. I’m thinking Russell Swan from Season 16 definitely is one of them. I’m really hoping it’s NOT Colton, and that would instead give Kourtney from this season a good chance. (Young, barely got to play). Maybe Joe Dowdie? Still pretty young. I think Mike Skupin might feel a bit too old at this point (50) but I’d certainly give him another chance if he wanted it.
Not big on returnees, but at least they should be relatively green veterans. And three tribes is a nice change.
I’m not excusing Christina’s game, but I’m not buying that Kim could have been swayed. Remember, even the answers you give at Tribal are part of the game and don’t necessarily reflect actual sentiments.
Were Kim were actually cognizant enough to know that she could be swayed, there’s not an argument that Christina could have presented that she hadn’t already considered.
Christina was gone no matter what.
Sabrina should have played the sympathy card in TC. That little speech she gave to the camera about being laid off, about the importance to her of being a special ed teacher…that was great! Why didn’t she give the same speech in TC? That would have won my vote.
I didn’t see the last show, just the reunion. Kim looked gorgeous last night. And everyone seems to love her. She has a future in t.v., I think. Chelsea and Sabrina and Christina seemed perfectly content to take the back seat to Kim. Fuzzy t.v., but not really compelling. It illustrates why testosterone is needed on the show.
Colton seemed close to tears a few times, then switched back into his Queen Bitch routine. The “I love you and you and you and you.” routine encapsulated everything that is wrong about him. He can’t even PRETEND to be sympathetic or genuine. What a vindictive, sarcastic, sad excuse for a human being. He should just kill himself by throwing himself in the fire. Or get a job.
Alicia, the ghetto bitch, cried. She seemed genuinely contrite, but I just cannot reconcile her tears with her behavior on the show. She and Colton bullying Christina was the low-point of the show. I do, however, give her points for showing humility when humility was warranted. She’ll need support now as her future as a Special Ed teacher is over, IMO.
Tarzan is interesting but odd. His wife desperately needs a make-over of the non-surgical kind. I’m talking cutting and darkening her hair, reducing those ginormous boobs, and wearing clothing that is age appropriate (or even fourscore-appropriate) and matches. However, their adoration for each other was cute.
Troyzan should have just shut up after saying that people’s reactions to him was positive. To say that people tell him that he’s one of the best players who ever played the game…while coming in at, what? 8th?, just seems delusional and sad.
Jay’s sexiness is, apparently, lying on the barber’s floor.
I didn’t see Kat’s last tribal, but I gather from comments that she got over her bitterness. Good to see. She looks a lot like Deborah Harry to me.
Mike admitted he was stupid. Good.
I thought that in season’s past, the next season was already underway prior to the finale of the prior season. When Russell Hanz played back to back, I remember people arguing that the 2nd group didn’t have the benefit of watching him play the prior season. Or am I imagining things?
She did make that speech to the jury, didn’t she? I swear I heard it twice - once on the beach, and once at the jury.
Yeah, it was kind of surprising. I thought she was definitely going to give the “You three are all horrible human beings, and none of you deserve anything but a shallow grave” speech, but she didn’t. She said something like life’s too short to be angry (and even directed those contents to the jury), and she’s happy for all 3 of them.
That definitely happened with Russell’s back-to-back seasons - when he was at the award/reunion show for his first appearance, he had already filmed his second. But those two seasons were filmed in the exact same location, so there was no break between filming.
BTW, I think my favorite part last night was during the fallen tribemembers march, when they reached Matt’s torch. He was the arrogant lawyer who was the first man voted off, and his voiceover said something like “My strategy was better than everyone else’s who is left in the game.” No idiot, when you’re the first voted off from your tribe, that means you had the WORST strategy.
The fall and spring seasons are shot back to back. Production doesn’t work 365 days a year, though; they take a break much like schools do.
(You may notice that the break between fall and spring season is two months, but between spring and the next fall the break is four months.)
Some thoughts from a VERY sporadic watcher, as I’ve seen about 3-4 episodes over the course of the season:
Holy crap, is this the single most attractive season of Survivor ever? Kim, Chelsea, and Kat were certainly gorgeous, but I couldn’t get over how stunning Christina was (until she started talking). It’s too bad she couldn’t play the game well, I’d have rooted strongly for her. The men seemed to also be off the charts, but I’m not all that dialed into that.
I saw Kat’s exit, and pretty much pigeon holed her as a typical naive girl far too young to really do well in Survivor. I was absolutely blown away by her jury speech - to keep that secret to yourself shows an incredible amount of character, and then to forgive with such ease is so hard to do. She seems to have a lot of personality - I’d love to see her host something.
Was really glad to see the non-bitter jury, such a refreshing change of pace from previous seasons. I just don’t understand why people get so butthurt for so long in this game. I understand there are emotions involved and that gets pretty tangly, but how do you lose compelte sight of the fact you’re in a game?
According to spoilers I have seen at TWoP the returning people are:
Michael Skupin (Outback), Russell Swann (Samoa) and Jonathan Penner (Cooks Islands, Fans vs Favs)
Colton Mom’s let it slip that Colton had been Coached on what to say with respect to Jeff’s questions. and he still could not get it right. Sigh.
Some weird makeovers. Kat was extremely cute, and I was very surprised she was not a Bitter Betty at final Tribal Council. Was Bill trying to be Prince’s and Little Richard’s love child?
Jay had a haircut of 12 yr old boy, like Seinfeld did in that one episode that spoofed Edward Scissorhands.
Probst looked really bad last night when he asked Matt about the guys volunteering to go to Tribal Council. He wasn’t even in the game at that time.
