Survivor: One World March 7 2012

That has to go down as the most idiotic turn of events in Survivor history.

Are these men so blind that they can’t see what Colton is doing? He’s a narcissistic, racist, condescending, spoiled brat. And he’s getting away with it. Why? Because he has an idol? Let’s not forget, that idol was given to him by the women tribe. There’s still another idol in play but it will have to be given to the women if found by the men.

How come no one is looking?

Dumbest “box of rocks” cast ever.

Does the men tribe know these facts?

I think not, because they’re not looking for an idol.

I knew some one would come along and point that out to me. It doesn’t matter. When gay people are THAT conservative, it out weighs the gayness. Expecting all homosexuals to be liberal, is just as bad as, some conservatives who think all homosexuals are constantly fucking* each other.

*see above.

Well, either they know they would have to give it away or they think their idol has already been found, right? Either way, not looking for the idol makes sense.

I can’t root for anyone on the men’s team. Hate Colton more than ever, completely lost faith in Leif, dislike the rest of the misfits, and never like the arrogant pretty boys. I guess if I had to pull for a guy, it’d be the model.

The women aren’t much better. So very incompetent in that challenge, and I base most of my game respect on challenge performance. They did well with their satanic crucifix to win the tarp, I suppose, but sheesh.

I did love the “I can’t do puzzles? What, I’m stupid?!” outburst right before possibly the worst puzzle choke in Survivor history. Nice bit of editing on that.

How dare you compare me to that orange trash! I’m a munchkin!

True. But the woman who found the idol and had to give it away *has *to know that there is another idol out there specifically for her tribe. Right? Right?

She should still be searching for it.
edit: it’s still out there, isn’t it? No woman has an idol?

I now believe that Colton is the most reprehensible and despicable contestant in Survivor history. Players often exaggerate aspects of their personalities (very probably at the producers’ encouragement) for the game. I bet if I met Russell Hantz in a bar I’d enjoy hanging out with him. NaOnka would keep me entertained. Coach, Jerri, Sue Hawk, et al, all the people that everybody “loves to hate” are probably quite tolerable in real-life situations.

But I’m convinced Colton is exactly as he appears. If I met him IRL I’m certain I’d dislike him instantly. Idol or not, I’m perplexed that he’s suddenly got so much power in the tribe.

And I’m really disappointed in Lief for muttering a half-assed apology to the little bitch instead of standing up for himself. What he said to Bill really wasn’t so terrible. In fact, I was sure he “let it slip” on purpose and thought it quite clever to try to build a bridge to Bill, just in case. I would have liked to see him give Colton some kind of “I don’t have to explain myself to you; who died and made you Queen?” response. I do realize you have to tread a little bit lightly around an idol-holder, but at the very least he could have said, “Yeah, so what? It doesn’t affect our numbers or the vote. Let it go.” I’m only ranting about this because I like Lief and I hope he can find his spine before it’s too late.

Just because we haven’t seen them looking for an idol doesn’t mean they aren’t. It just means the editors decided there’s more interesting things to show us. Usually we don’t see someone searching for an idol unless (a) they find it, (b) they do something insane or cool while looking for it, or (c) they pray for assistance in finding it while their alliance partner already has it.

BTW, did anyone notice that while the men’s tribe was discussing going to Tribal, Jonas was holding the fishing net? So it seems that the women did in fact bargain use of the net for half the catch.

Yeah, far as we know, none of the women has an idol, and the one who found Colton’s (that would be Sabrina) should be out looking for Salani’s, since Jeff’s instructions at the beginning of the game did include “Hidden immunity idols are in play,” and she was gung-ho for finding one when she found the Manono idol. Don’t think we’ve been shown anybody looking for any idols since she found that one, but as muldoonthief notes, that doesn’t necessarily mean they aren’t searching.

As for Colton, he’s really getting into the villain role, isn’t he? I’m bum-puzzled too as to why all the guys just seem to be bowing before him, but as has been mentioned, he’d be a perfect partner for the final.

Yeah, Troyzan and Tarzan were shown using the goggles and spear, and Bill appears to be holding the spear when Tarzan is scolding Leif, so they must have struck some deal not shown on camera.

Yes true. But Survivor without Redemption Island is a strategic chess match. So Colton can simply examine the board from the POV of each player and then force the issue.

Colton’s POV: wants Bill gone ASAP. +10 Bill gone, +1 close to women’s tribe +1 someone else gone, -2 his tribe loses a member

Bill’s POV: tribe tells him Leif is target. +5 regain trust within tribe, +1 someone else gone, -2 his tribe loses a member

Leif’s POV: approached with plan to redeem his blabbermouth blunder. +5 regain trust within the tribe, +1 someone else gone, -2 his tribe loses a member

Other men’s POV: don’t rock the boat. +1 get closer to Colton, +2 Colton gets heat, +1 avoid getting a target painted on one’s back, +1 someone else gone, -2 his tribe loses a member

Each of the men consider the loss of a tribe member to be less important than being targetted in future tribal councils so they went with the plan.

Not much I can add except the fact that Colton has been able to control the game for more than 10 minutes is one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen on Survivor.

You’re not orange; you’re ‘burnt sienna’.

For the members of his alliance, I don’t see the downside of going along with Colton to go to Tribal Council. Well, maybe for Leif since he might have been getting the boot instead of Bill. But for the others, why make waves? Maintaining numbers for a merge is only important if they don’t reshuffle the tribes before that happens and given that it’s a Women vs Men season, that’s pretty likely. (Even if the producers are misleading us about it happening next week.) If a shuffle is more likely than a merge then maintaining relationships is more important than maintaining numbers.

For the others, going to tribal is not such a great move. Particularly for Bill. What could he gain from risking it? If Leif goes he is still next on the block when they lose immunity anyway. For the other Roosters it’s more ambivalent. It looks like Mike is now the next on the chopping block. For him why not refuse to go and keep Bill or Leif around as a buffer? Not sure about Bumfuzzled Boy’s place.
