I’ve seen similar (and worse) things in endurance races.
My Wife for one. Heat stroke, dehydration. An hour after the race she pretty much lost all control. I did my best to hydrate her and get her comfortable, but ended up calling 911. Most or her problem turned out to be hyperventilation - fast short breaths. Her blood gases where all wacked out. Body was telling her to breath faster, but she needed long deep breaths to get rid of CO2.
I was not comfortable watching that. I don’t know why I don’t get as bothered if it’s challenge related but I really felt bad for Paul and like we shouldn’t have seen that. Now that they told me it wasn’t anything major I feel a little better but still. Like I was invading his privacy.
I know they signed on to televise everything but nobody expects to go down like that.
I didn’t think they should have shown the vultures going “more for me!” before we knew he was staying. It really made me think they were opportunistic assholes.
Then again, they are on reality TV…
I am starting to enjoy watching the millennials create their little world and interact. It’s interesting how they approach things differently than I would. Gen X on the other hand? Been there. Yawn.
Hannah did herself no favor. Even disregarding the question of which alliance would be better for her, agonizing so long and publicly over her vote made it utterly clear she wasn’t truly committed to the side she ended up voting for.
I don’t see how he would make it to the end. Seeing him up on that platform before jumping for the key, he looked like a guy on day 37 whose tribe ran out of food on day 5.
I’ve never collapsed or felt like Paul, but I’ve felt some effects of heat and dehydration. It’s pretty much what he went through. I was absolutely wiped and out-of-sorts.
They have to stay in the shade and hydrate enough.
I found the first two episodes a bit of a snooze, but I will stick with. I’ve watched every ep. of every season since season 1.
Everyone is giving Hannah so much shit for this. She had literally first heard about the plan 5-10 minutes ago. Michelle took a whole walk with Will, and he said when he they parted that he wasn’t sure. He spent hours thinking about it and Hannah made up her mind in 5 minutes, but somehow she is the uncommitted one.
In a post-episode interview she did with Rob Cesternino, Mari blamed Will for her downfall. She said originally she had just told people “yeah I make videos on Youtube of me playing video games” and Will knew her from Smosh Games (a very popular channel) and basically “outed” her as some big-name video game player, which suddenly made everyone think she was a huge strategy threat.
I disagree. If someone is talking to you at tribal and tells you to change your vote and you ask for a reason, and their answer is “I’ll tell you later” - don’t do it. They are already talking, just tell the reason. Hannah should have been strong enough to hold her ground. The vote was bad for her, I just bet you.
The Millenialls think they are so special: We grew up in front of a TV screen. Hey, dunderhead, I’m a boomer and I grew up in front of a TV screen. And, btw, a lot of the Gen Xers look older than me!!
How many times have we seen people pass up a prime opportunity to vote out a power player or break up a big alliance with the rationale of “we’ll get them next”? It almost never works out that way.
There was no real reason to get rid of Mari (though I admit I won’t miss her talking about video games every five minutes), and you can bet Figgus and her boy toy are only going to get stronger now.
As for Hannah, yeah, she was screwed no matter what, because the others couldn’t make a plan and stick to it.
“When you text, do you spell out ‘You’, or just type the letter ‘U’ ?” Really Jeff? Really? This schtick is killing the show this season. Apparently it’s just a 3 month long commercial for this show, which they’re promoting heavily during each episode.
Anyway, the summit was just odd, and felt shoehorned in. That’s the first time they’ve done that, isn’t it? Just send a few random members of each tribe to lunch together?
The blindside at the end was nicely done, though Paul was an utter moron for telling the women what he’d do if the men decided to cut them out.
I was hoping for a good explanation for getting rid of Mari. I was expecting a bad explanation. Did we even get an explanation, any explanation at all for getting rid of Mari?
