Survivor Season 30 (spoilers)

The first Africa season (season 3?) they also had limited water – a very muddy spring, as I recall. Not a good idea.

Yeah, it’s better this way: a reasonable amount of rice and beans (unless someone goes berserk and dumps them in the fire), supplemented by whatever you can catch or win.

There was also a fans vs favorites season when a fan ate a rat to impress Parvati.

My fear at this point is that Rodney could actually win this thing. For whatever reason, they never seem to vote out bullies; they vote out the people who align with the bullies. This is how Russell Hantz (zero jury votes) and Tony the Cop (won the million) made it to the end, and it could very well happen again.

If it’s Rodney up against wishy-washy Will or annoying Shirin or I-wanna-quit Jenn, with a jury of mostly blue collars, he’ll walk away a millionaire. I hate it when the bullies win.

I thought the same thing about the chocolate reward. I kept thinking that one of them was going to have to leave the challenge to make a mad dash for the forest. Yuck.

Loved the silhouette of the fish in the wave.

So sad that Joe went home. I’d be fine if anyone except Dan wins. He is the most obnoxious, nasty player they’ve had in a long time.

Snickers and popcorn wouldnt be so bad to binge on.

Dan is a victim of editing, methinks.

Seriously? Like, Dan didn’t actually say all those nasty thing to Shirin, or she somehow deserved it, or what?

Yeah, they can’t edit in things you didn’t even say. They can edit out good stuff that balances, but they can’t really create nasty dialogue out of thin air.

That said, I wonder if we underestimate how much influence the producers have on the players’ performance and the show in general. Both Hali and Joe stated at the Ponderosa that they thought they played terribly strategically, that they were too passive. Coincidence that they did so as members of the No Collar tribe? I’m not so sure.

And watching Dan rail on Shirin just looked/felt so staged or set up, like he was instructed to do it. Which is not the same as saying I don’t think he’s an ass, because I do. But I would bet there was at least a little influence from outside Dan’s own brain in choosing to wear a black hat this season.

Dan isn’t a villain in the Survivor sense, I don’t think. Villains have influence over the game, while Dan is completely powerless. He’s just an asshole.

Producers meet with each contestant every day. That’s when the individual interviews happen. They definitely try to push the players in certain directions to make for better TV. They can’t predetermine an outcome but they can ask players questions to try to manipulate them. I have a small tid bit for you guys that perfectly illustrates that which I will have to tell you at a later time.

Why not tell us now?

Just watched it last night, and came away thinking similarly. But damn, producers, don’t make me start liking Rodney-- he was seriously funny doing those imitations. And as much as I dislike Mike, he absolutely owned that RC. Very surprised that Spencer won the IC. I thought for sure it would be Jenn. Too bad for Joe. He was the best player, IMO. But then, if you get voted out, you can’t be the actual best!

I’m guessing it’s a comment from someone already voted out who hasn’t been voted out on the show yet.

Exactly. I was surprised the first several times they didn’t dump him, but now they might as well keep him around to take to the finals, since he’s an asshole with no apparent alliances or strengths.

Maybe it was just me-I was in something of a funky mood anyway-but last night was one of the most brutal episodes I’ve ever seen, and not in an entertaining way like you normally expect from reality TV. There must be something they’re not showing us because while Shirin has been edited as being annoying as all get-out, they haven’t shown us any reason why Will should go absolutely bananas on her & try to rip her to shreds personally. Even Russel at his Hantziest got personal but always seemed to be doing it to get inside someone’s head. Will seemed to truely and honestly believe every word he said. And the fact that nobody really seemed to step up to help her…Is it editing, or do they all really dislike her that much?

Apparently Blue Collar alliance already had more cracks than we were shown because Mike was pretty quick to drop them and call Shirin & Jenn his new BFF’s for life. I was admiring his game right up until the auction “Will I or won’t I” decision that sealed his fate if it hadn’t been done already. Can’t see him winning now, even if he goes on an immunity tear.

Add Rodney being Rodney, Shirin’s ‘Will Veto’ at the Immunity Challenge, Jenn’s almost quit last week–all in all I think this is the most stressed out I’ve ever seen a group of survivors in 30 seasons.

Overall it’s still a very good season–but last night’s episode just left a bad taste in my mouth.

Will shared his entire stash of food goodies with the team and was accused of saving some extra for himself. It’s no wonder that he blew his stack.

Mike and Carolyn both have idols. It will be interesting how that comes into play.

I am still pulling for Carolyn

The fact that Mike has a HII, and also overheard them plotting against them, would have set him up perfectly for a blind-side. So I wonder why he showed his hand, by going off on the Inner 4?

I think Mike only changed his mind about his auction double-cross because Carolyn’s “never mind, take it back” seemed to be about to happen. I wonder if Jeff had said “sorry, all sales are final” if Mike would have continued.

I’m confused about Dan’s extra vote – he didn’t need to play it at the next TC?

Yeah: Will’s personal attack on Shirin was unduly harsh. And her veto was equally harsh. There seems to be more personal animosity going on this season, than we normally see.

Yep, pretty bad episode.

Mike was an idiot. With the HII in his pocket, there was no need to pull the stunt at the auction. He had Dan and Sierra and Shirin in his back pocket to vote any of the four flippers. And he lost Dan and Sierra after the stunt.

Will was pretty bad, but it was mitigated by being butthurt from being kicked out of the auction and not getting a letter. Everyone else got to eat their food without sharing and he is gets accused of hoarding some of the foot.

Saw Jen’s ponderosa video and she lost less than a pound in almost a month out there. And drinks Jack Daniels straight from the bottle.

Apparently not.

It is shown being discussed in the preview.
