Sushi/Japanese food question - help!

Me and the SO are making some sushi tonight, and we picked up our supplies earlier. We picked up something in a standard looking salad dressing bottle, called “Kamikze dressing”. At the store we assumed it was ginger/carrot dressing, because it was under a sign that said so, and it’s thick and orange. We just noticed when we took it out of the fridge a few minutes a label in the back which states…

“This product was prepared from inspected and passed meat and/or poultry. Some food products may contain bacteria that could cause illness if the product is mishandles or cooked improperly.”

I tried to google to no avail.

My SO is vegetarian, so I want to make sure we are safe before we chow down.

As always thanks in advance.

I’ve never heard of it, despite being a housewife here in Japan for the past eight years. Doesn’t sound too appetizing to me, though.

What is the name of the company who manufactures it?

found this reference to it on epicurious. Also found several mentions of spicy “kamikaze dressing” on several online posted menus from japaneese restaurants. Its possible that what you have is intended as a marinade and not for direct consumption?

If you’re really worried pour it in a small pan and heat it to 150 degrees or so for a few minutes.

Thats bizarre lol. Thats’s the stuff and I bought it from Sunrise Mart.

I’m going to call them up and see if I can figure this out.

Tsubaki, there isn’t a brand, it’s made by the place I bought it, sort of an in-house type of thing i guess.

Alrighty, got to the bottom of it. Since it’s a product they make, they slap the same label on everything. So they all have the “safe handling instructions” spiel on it, which can be ignored in this case.

Thanks for the help everyone.
