This is strictly a factual question about procedure, not an argument with anything that’s happening here and in the Pit.
If someone, say, drmark2000 were acting like a jerk, and if a mod announced that s/he were being suspended for a month, would that person’s membership status line say “suspended” or “banned”?
Folks who are suspended say “suspended”, like this fellow. If it says “banned” they most likely will never be back. Then at some point they go through a metamorphisis and get labled “guest”. I don’t get that bit.
That’s a problem with the board software. Every so often, the software goes through the member list, looking to see who paid or not. Those who haven’t paid are listed as “guest”, even if they’ve been banned. They’re still banned, though.
It will say “banned” until it is manually changed to “suspended”. The “guest” instead of “banned” is because of a script that runs and changes the title of expired subscriptions. It’s only cosmetic, they’re still banned.
Oh! That’s why it says **DrLoveGun **is a guest. The software saw that his membership expired and just renamed him guest. I e-mailed Tubadiva but I guess I didn’t make myself clear and she just explained that, yes, he was banned. Which I knew.
Maybe it’s just me, but it seems that one of these threads asking for clarification, etc., shows up rather frequently. Have the Powers That Be considered making a representative thread explaining this into a sticky?
