Speaking for myself, I wouldn’t enjoy taking money from someone who was screaming, crying, hurting and terrified either. But apparently in some parts of the world there are people who will do it willingly, especially to someone who’s not a neighbour, tribesperson or whatever.
I mean, in an ideal world I should have the guaranteed right to take my luxury sailing yacht[sup]*[/sup] anywhere on the high seas that I see fit, and international law agrees with me to the letter, but from what I see on the news from time to time, I’d be six kinds of a fool to try it in Somali waters for a start.

her physical condition wasn’t that bad after the incident. I don’t favor life term for each n every rape case. For more severe\violent cases life imprisonment for sure. could (hesitantly) approve of even death sentence in some rape cases.
How about the about 20 year old medical student? Any news on that? I thought that happened before this?
That case is also close to conclusion. 1 was 17 yr old minor, he will have to be let off. Main accused died in jail, suicide or murder we don’t know. Other accused are likely to be sentenced soon.

You’re logic appears to be that the sentence in this case should be kept lower so there is room left to use a max sentence for worse crimes.
But I don’t agree with that logic, why not give them both the max?
Because sentencing ranges are there to reflect the fact that not all crimes are equal. Does it not matter to you if they had prior criminal records, left permanent physical injuries, used a weapon, and so on?
Then why have a range in the law? I respect the verdict but do not entirely agree with the harshness of it.
Oh, I don’t know. Maybe to separate petty nonviolent crimes from crimes that involve committing forcible assaults on people?
When was the last time you heard of a petty, nonviolent rape?
