Anyone have an experience switching from a Blackberry to an iPhone? I’m considering making that change after using a BB curve for about three years. I use my phone mostly for texts and emails and some light browsing, but I’d like to take advantage of the diversity of apps that iPhone offers. I’m wondering if other dopers have made the same migration and what you think the advantages/disadvantages are. How hard is it to adjust to typing with the virtual keyboard? Anything else I should consider before making the move?
I made the same switch as you. Personally, I have found that I prefer the virtual keyboard but it does make it impossible to touch type.
So far I haven’t had any regrets on switching and can’t say there is anything I really miss from the Curve.
I switched from Blackberry to the Android Droid X in January. My wife has an iPod Touch and I never really cared for it, so I wasn’t champing at the bit for an iPhone anyway. Now that I have my Droid X, I’m confident I made the right decision. I absolutely love the versatility of my phone, which the iPhone really can’t match. I can do everything on my Droid X that an iPhone can and more, plus there are no annoying restrictions like no Flash support, nonremovable battery, etc…
I bought my wife the HTC Incredible, another Android phone, and synched her entire iTunes playlist onto it, so now she doesn’t even need her iPod Touch. Another advantage of Android devices is it is not absolutely necessary to use headphones to listen to music or other audio, which always used to annoy my wife, as you have the option of playing audio through the phone’s speakers which, I have to say, doesn’t sound bad.
