www.smh.com.au is a very good newspaper site to read. They have a column called “Spike” which as they say turns “news on its side”. It’s quite entertaining and it is published every day. My question is : Does anyone, who is familiar with this column, know of any other newspapers around the world that have a similar column? I know about Ananova’s “quirkies” and abc.com.au’s (or is the age.com.au?) oddball column. Are there any others?
Spike Column - direct link. Back in the days when the Herald was a decent, gutsy paper, and not a wankfest for rich idiots living in Pyrmont, Spike was called Stay In Touch, and was very clever indeed. It even spawned several books.
The Herald also has the more well-known Column 8 for one-paragraph humourous “bites”.
