Sylvia Brown gets on my nerves. Everytime I turn on the T.V., there she is! I don’t know what scares me more, that she may believe she’s psychic, or the myriad of lonely older women that linger on her every word. I try not to watch her, but I’d like to know if anyone here can prove she’s a fraud. I’m feeling a bit cynical right now, and I’d love to see someone bring down this horse. If anyone here supports the hag, feel free to make me laugh. Hopefully, this thread won’t end up in the Pit.
She used to always be on the Montel Williams show. I’ve always wanted to be in that studio audience and have her tell me about my dead grandfather or whatever, just to see if she’s real. I doubt she is though.
Kind of on topic but a bit of a hijack, too. (Sorry Demi.) I called a psychic once (a really long time ago) and spent a really long time on the phone with her. Just about everything she said was dead wrong and, when I said so, she would cover it up by saying “Well, it will happen soon” or some crap like that. Nothing that she said would happen has and the whole time I was talking to her I was thinking to myself, Yeah, if you were such a great psychic, wouldn’t you know I’m only fourteen?
She’s still on Montel Williams all the time. The reason I hate her so adamantly is because the audience, who chose to be there and wants to believe her, looks to her for help, but when the person tells Sylvia something is wrong she has an immediate (and pathetic) excuse for why she is truly right. Sorry for the poor syntax…and for leaning this toward the BBQ Pit even more.

The reason I say “Used to” is because, sadly ( ), I no longer have the channel that Montel Williams is shown on.
IMHO, it’s not “leaning towards” the pit. I think you’re still in good shape here.
I wish I could cite it specifically, but I remember an article–a number of years ago in * Harper’s * --by a guy who decided to get employed as a phone psychic. he did the work for a while, then decided to have fun with it. He would call the hotline, then when the other “psychic” picked up he would pretend that he’d been the one who got called, and try to give the other psychic a reading. It was a really neat read.
Is this maybe what you are talking about? It is a good read, but depressing when you realize the callers are just lonely people who want someone to talk to.
