Well, the way she based her entire career on deliberate fraud is reason enough on its own, but her tendency to run her scam on the families of missing persons makes her especially repugnant.

I can’t even muster any sliver of respect for her regarding the con “artistry”; she was just another in a long, long line of people taking advantage of desperate, bereft people and suckers. She just happened to do it in the middling age of mass media. It doesn’t take any degree of skill or even showmanship to scam stupid people, it merely requires a total lack of integrity and dignity.
In this case we have documented proof. She predicted her own death at age 88:

No, except for occasional infomercials and commercials, some of which were for Sylvia Browne. He also emceed at some of her live shows and cruises. (She actually had an annual Sylvia Fest cruise of the Mediterranean with her wealthier believers.)
Sylvia is one of the people who makes me sad that I have scruples. I could be so freaking rich if it were not for the fact that I just cannot bring myself to feed upon the desperate. I have so much more panache and imagination that she did or John Edward does.
