It’s a tough call, but my money’s on Rogers. I think that in a pinch, his keen grasp of psychology and his larger pool of allies would give him the edge.

Actually Fred Rogers has another enemy, also coincidentally wanting to take over the world…

Syndrone - has big-ass nigh-indestructible killer robot at his beck and call. Most of the time, anyway.

Mr. Rogers - has a toy train.

This is a joke, right?

Quick question - is Mr. Rogers prepared?

rjung: you certainly have a valid point, and it’s one that I tried to allude to in my OP. On the other hand, it seems fair to point out that Syndrome’s “nigh-indestructible” Omnidroid was, in fact, defeated quite handily–twice–during the course of a two-hour movie using essentially the same tactic each time. Trolley, on the other hand, is to my knowledge currently undefeated.

I think it comes down to a question of whether the Omnidroid would be more of a help than a hindrance to Syndrome in a combat situation.

And yes, I was joking about the whole “Jim Henson as nemesis” thing–so far as I know, the two managed to maintain a cordial detente for decades.

Little Nemo: I had been assuming that Syndrome would probably make the first move, since Mister Rogers seems more likely to adopt a defensive strategy, but whether he would be unprepared for an attack is a more difficult question. He certainly has the resources necessary to anticipate a first strike. Then too, it was only Mr. Incredible’s unwillingness to dig too deeply into Syndrome’s identity that allowed Syndrome to get the drop on him, and it seems unlikely that Mister Rogers would be lulled by such an ego-stroking ploy. But it’s your call.

Dude, this is easy. Mr. Rogers doesn’t wear a cape. [mode=“Edna”]NO CAPES![/mode]

Unless Mr. Rogers has Bob Parr in his corner (a condition not specified in the OP), I don’t think Syndrone has anything to worry about.

Hell, the Omnidroid could fall on Trolley and that’d be all she wrote.

I think it’s in the bag for Mister Rogers. Sure, The Big S could destroy Mister Rogers’ home with the press of one key on his gauntlet, but he isn’t the type to do that with out an attempt at repartee first.

Syndrome is well known as the sort of villian that likes to gloat over his enemies before he’s actually defeated them. He will surely talk to Mister Rogers before ordering his robot and/or minions to attack.

It is also well known that no one on God’s Green Earth can actually be angry in Mister Rogers’ presence once he’s begun to talk. Just one, “I know you don’t really want to hurt anyone,” and Syndrome will burst into tears. He’ll be Buddy again, and just want Mister Rogers to tell him everything will be okay.

*Strange–at several points while typing this post, I attempted to save a few keystrokes by referring to Mister Rogers merely by his last name, without the title. I found myself completely unable to do so. You just gotta respect him, whether you’re a message-board poster or a megolomaniacal super bad guy.
