System of a Down

No offense Derleth but if you havent noticed we are on the internet if I was going to type correctly, I would have. And second, dictionaries are more than a friend for me, Im an alleged fan. And my grammer is well thought out as well as my proofreading, I do so because I don’t care about my typing, you understood it tho. Well all of their members are Armenian, Serj(the lead singer) was born around Lebano. They’re “BUDDHIST” because they say so in their Official Website please refer to www.systemofadown.com and see there in their biography. Thanks. (no hard feelings man)

Hey FAUXPAS – what song has the following line in it?
“Ignorance spreads lies.”???

IS this and actualy song? Well I believe it’s Prision Song…correct me if Im wrong. (most likely wrong)

Actually, a lot of people didn’t understand your question. And Derleth wasn’t saying that you have to use proper grammar and punctuation; just that you’ll get further if you use it. I concur (on the internet and in real life.)

To clear up a few things: the song is related to the Armenian Genocide - a topic that Serj Tankian (lead singer/lyricist) is very involved in. And they are definately not Christian - If their quoting of the bible was intentional then it was for a different reason - they believe in spirituality and have adopted somewhat of their own beliefs. They are pretty against organized religion. Since nobody else really gave cites, I’m not going to either

Yes it is an actual song, and Yes you`re wrong.

Fauxpas - I read your profile. You seem a little ambitious for a thirteen year old. Not to mention 50 posts per day would even put HANDY to shame. Quantum physics and Programming???
Hell, you`ll end up in a clinic by the time your 17.

What`s your real story?

Although it’s moot now given that we know the song is about the Armenian Genocide, I’m curious as to how hiding away the scars from the shakeup with a little makeup relates to the Jesus interpretation.

On that note, how do the verses relate to the Armenian Genocide?

fauxpas, don’t make your username appropriate. All I’ve noticed is that I have very good reading comprehension (reading Faulkner in High School), but I can’t make heads or tails of your posts. This is a completely text medium, and you sound like someone who is relying on nonverbal cues to help others make sense of your messages. In any medium but the Internet, that could be helpful. Even tone of voice carries on the phone, after all, but everything but the words you type is lost online. Think about that, and reread your posts with an eye to understanding just the words on the screen. Don’t rely on what you know you meant, rely on what you actually typed.

It isn’t helping that this thread could well be in the wrong forum. If you want a discussion of the religion of System of a Down and how that affects their work, take it to the Cafe Society. General Questions is for questions with a factual answer.

Pet Serj’s last name is Talkian. And no its not about Genocide (killing of one race) It’s a mixture of what happened to Jesus and why he had no choice I believe. Czech, he hid away the scars by saying was okay. Now whuckfistle, what do you mean whats my real story? What I speak is not a lie. It’s myself. Why would I end up in a clinic? Wouldn’t it me more appropiate for me to go to an Asylum? lol Derleth, what do you mean about my username being appropiate? I will follow your advice as well. Regards.

Hmmm … i guess there is a market for Christian music after all.

shah don’t tell the kids its good for them and they’ll eat it up

Nothing warmed my heart more, then the odd occasions i went to church to see whats wrong with those people to hear a minister (or priest) talking about how heavy metal was NOT the devils music any more !! Introducing “some clichéd heavy metal band name with overtones of Christian faith”

fauxpas: I am a bad man and was about to abuse you about polluting sensible conversation with religion - but i decided I’d rather put my head down on my desk and think of nekid women.

His last name is Tankian.

Okay…trader…for the first time ever…im confused about your reply

Incidentally, this is a pretty good live band. I saw them last year at the HFS Nutcracker and they were hardcore.

Blink 182 had the unenviable task of playing right after them. Unexciting. They managed to get the audience going by asking the girls to show “some 14 year old titties”, which coming from a guy older than I am is rather suspect.

wow…how much did you see?

I thought he was asking how the song chop suey translates to, but I couldn’t be sure what he wanted it translated to(or is that too?).
It feels strange to be one of the few young people who can spell or put grammar togther into a cognitive sentence.(Yes I’ve spelt several topic titles wrong because I was typing too fast).
And SOAD kick ass.

None. You couldn’t take your beer into the auditorium, so I was drinking a beer in one of those designated “beer zones” in the hallway. I heard the band ask for titties and the audience screaming over the intercom. My friend was on the floor at the time and told me about 6 or 8 girls showed their stuff.

FAUXPAS - check out the words to “Drift and Die”. (puddle of mud)

A faux pas is a social blunder. Not using grammar and creating unreadable posts is a huge social blunder in a text-only medium like the Internet.

Actually Derleth if youd like to go to the pit, fine by me, but im not a social blunder, first of all fax pas is latin for false pass or trail. Yes, ill accept apologies.
