I am running XP (with SP1 only) and all of a sudden System Restore stopped working. It looks like it works normally up to the point where the system restarts. Then it says “System Restore was unable to restore your system to (name of system restore point). No changes were made to your system”. Any ideas what could be going on and how I can fix it?
I’m not sure, but I’d like to add I’ve experienced the exact same problem on numerous occasions. I’ve given up relying on System Restore.
I’ve had this problem in the past with my ME. I now use “Go Back,” but keep System Restore on (double indemnity). For some reason, all prior restore points were deleted. This could have happened due to a virus. System Restore is often unable to go back before the virus.
IIRC this is a known issue with Highpoint RAID drivers. This MS KB article details an error message when creating a SRP which may help.
