Tagg Romney "joke"; take a swing at Obama

Yeah. I just thought that and it took a whole of 2 seconds. I even thought out the full wording instead of just imagining the action which is probably what he did.

Criminey, you people are unusual.

When my son was three, another kid shoved him out of the way at the playground slide. I wanted to run up and shove that kid down and ask him how he liked it.

But I didn’t, because I realized that shoving is part of the process of playground interaction among kids – but is not meant to add overprotective parents into the mix.

That impulse does not make me any of the unruly adjectives used above. When you see someone going after a family member, you naturally wish to defend that family member. But you temper that reaction with an understanding of social norms and your own lack of neutrality, and you desist.

Only in SMDB-Left-Land does that utterly unremarkable fact garner any surprise, and only if it’s in support of Lefty Candidates.

Um, Bricker, I don’t know if you noticed but most of the “left” in this thread are agreeing that it was no big deal.

But what about the imaginary people? Hmmmm? What about them, smart guy?

Tagg and Twigg and Mitt are names
Unlike Mike and Steve and James
That are bestowed on little boys
Whose parents are moronic goys
Who think they’re being cute or wise
To stick such names on little guys.
But Mitt and Tagg and Twigg go nuts
When they get kicked hard in their butts
And act out, when they’re fully grown,
On little victims of their own—
The poor, the weak, the small, the sick—
They understand whose butts to kick.
Ferocious fighters, Tagg and Mitt
And Twigg, who will get into it,
Knowing well whom to attack:
Those who cannot hit them back.
Why not fight, Twigg, Tagg and Mitt,
You psychopathic chunks of shit,
those monsters you can truly blame
For sticking you with your dumb name?

The real story is how the first lady and Mrs. Romney had on the same color dresses. Scandal!

As was asked earlier, Bricker- if Obama had a son, and he said the same thing about Romney… do you think we’d ever hear the end of it from the righties?

Personally, I’m not getting too worked up about it. But I can easily imagine the rightwing hysteria we’d be hearing if the situation were reversed. Hell, the righties are still complaining that Biden *bullied *Ryan in their debate.

Dick-y maybe. He doesn’t seem able to express himself better than that. But I don’t have much background on Mitt’s spawn, so maybe there’s a clear history of this. I will say it reminds me of Mitt’s way of saying things, and I can see the similar mindset that leads to that even if it’s not intended literally.

By “you people,” I assume you mean Euphonius Polemic specifically? Because as near as I can tell, he’s the only person on this board who things this is remotely significant.

Bricker also left out the part where he related his reaction to the news media after having some time to reflect on it. But I do have to cop to the “unusual” thing.

And emphasis on the “remotely” part of that. My passion burns with the fury of a single match. I just thought it was interesting. If anyone wants to chose #2 from my list in the OP, I won’t get into a furious debate with you.

“Tell Donny Osmond that he can take a swing at these muthafuckin’ nuts.”

–Obama, in my dreams

Why on earth would good ol’ Bricky notice something that would so totally conflict with his views about all us dirty knee-jerk libruls?

Count me in the “dick-ish, but not really a big deal” camp.

If Tagg Romney had an ounce of sense he would have said something like, “well, you know, it’s difficult to watch someone call your father a liar on national television, but I understand that this is how the game is played.” Conveys the same sentiment, but in such a way that it’s a non-event.

I assumed he was a a twentysomething as well. Now reading this kind of blows my mind a little.

Hmmm… I remember watching this guy a couple days ago – he started out talking about the gun control issue, but he segued into how violence is the result of children being raised poorly in dysfunctional families. He kind of resembled the pictures of the young man who’s the subject of this thread. I wonder if there might be some sort of connection…

Well, that would legitimately be different, because it would be coming from an Angry Black Man.

The guy knew he was on a public radio, this wasn’t some overheard or secretly recorded conversation. He’s 42yo man. He thought he was going to get the perks of being the son of a sitting POTUS and those hopes got dashed a bit by the debate (even Mrs Mitt said no more runs if they don’t win this time)… he comes off as a spoiled brat trying to wag his tiny boy bits around so he can feel macho.

I’m not too concerned about this whole thing either, but since we’re talking about it:

The thing that makes me go “Really, dude? Really?” isn’t that he wanted to defend his family member. I get that. I’m perfectly empathetic with regard to him sitting at the debate and just hating Obama for going after his dad.

But for most people, that anger might spark a desire to do violence, but then the rational brain takes over from the lizardbrain. It’s not okay to respond to words with physical violence. So far as I’m aware, at least, Obama didn’t use any fightin’ words. You yourself say you want to do that, but you realize it’s not okay. Presumably you don’t tell your wife and your coworkers how you wanted to shove a little kid at the playground; you only bring it up here because it’s directly relevant to the discussion topic.

So it raises an eyebrow that this 42 year old man, presumably well-educated, well-off, with loads of life and business experience (I assume), chooses not only to not dismiss that lizardbrain reaction, but also to vocalize it and make very clear that that is what he wanted to do, and might have if the Secret Service wasn’t around. What guy other than Ted Nugent thinks that’s okay?
