Take a guess at when you will end up being vaccinated

Pretty much everybody in my family has been vaccinated (small family). I get my second shot next week, and then I’ll be done. The only one not vaccinated is my niece and grand-nephew. They’re both too young. My nephew and nephew-in-law are both RNs, so they were actually the first in the family to be vaccinated. Us oldsters are in the second “ordinary people” round.

I’m a bit nervous. My older sister and BiL had no reactions, but my younger sister was really sick for about 36 hours after her second Moderna shot.

Okay, this is weird. I found another story in the Sacramento Bee showing a vaccines per 100k/week chart that doesn’t match the other one at all. There’s newer data, but the rate of vaccination doses a week is about 4400ish on 3/14, vs 2800ish on the same day in an article in the same paper. I don’t know what gives.

The underlying data is here, but it’s doses per county per diem, so teasing out a weekly statewide rate is non trivial.

The sources usually say data, especially within the last five days, is subject to change. I have seen the numbers for recent days change dramatically. So don’t use very recent vaccination data as evidence of anything.

Where do you look for California data on vaccinations? I don’t find stuff like this easily digestible. Thanks in advance.

I don’t know about California, but Alameda County is here:

Seems like the same policy applies at Duane Reade/Walgreens where I got my first shot last week. I filled out the form quite truthfully (vaccines were available to anyone over 60, and I think it’s anyone over 50 now, or maybe just open to all), but nobody asked for ID or proof of age or anything at all when I went in for the shot.

I wouldn’t have any hard feelings if folks from California or other bordering states were to come to Arizona and help use up the unwanted 58,000* doses. The only requirements are to be 16 or older and have some sort of picture ID and I’m doubting that the ID is much of an issue now. Do remember to mask up while you are waiting for full vaccination, IMHO Arizona will never reach 70% vaccinated.

Has anyone heard something about the JNJ vaccine rollout rate? Last month they were saying 20 million doses by the end of March, but the MA numbers are really low (one eighth what would be expected).
On one hand, boo.
On the other, vaccination rate is still going up so if JNJ gets their shit together, it will be even better.

Can’t say anything about any specific states, but if you want national data, you can also peek at the CDC tracker. As of today, looks like 4.5MM doses have been ‘delivered’, but only 2.5MM have gone into arms.

NY State lowered the age to 50+ yesterday. So I signed up at my pharmacy (Walgreens) and there are a ton of spots available. So I am getting my first dose tomorrow (Moderna) at lunch time, and then the 2nd shot April 21st.

It’s right down the street from me so it’s super convenient.

It turns out it was a mix between A) and C), that is, of course, if the data from Florida aren’t faked. This week they opened it up to everyone 50 and older which leaves me falling just short. But the good news is this is happening a month before I was expecting it, so maybe I am not that far off.

I don’t know exactly when yet, but I just got notified that I’ve been selected to schedule at one of the big vaccination sites here. I don’t know how hard it will be to schedule, either. But I’m excited to be getting closer. I’m guessing I’ll have my first shot within a couple of weeks.

This morning I helped an eligible friend sign up for a vaccine on the CVS system. For a first shot, they schedule no more than four days out. The closest place that she could find a vaccine was about 60 miles away on Friday. When she got to the part where she was to schedule her second shot, they didn’t even assume that she was to get it at the same place. She got to pick. She found a closer place, still not in town, in the other direction.

Obviously, California and New York aren’t doing this exactly the same way.

With the exception, at least, of CVS Pharmacies. Just checked.

From a computer and address in NY?

Well no. Using the scheduling system with a NY zip code. I don’t see why they would use my IP address to make exceptions but I suppose it’s possible. I agree that there is a guidance (which you showed) but it doesn’t have to be explicitly followed.

I won’t be getting a NY vax but some people here will and they should be aware that they can easily get their shot in two different places. Anyone who is reading this will have to make their own moral decision about following the guidance which they probably wouldn’t have even been aware of had they just gotten on the CVS web page one morning to schedule.

CVS web page clearly told me to schedule the second appointment when I made the first, and to schedule it at the same place.

That’s interesting. I wonder if there was a policy change at some point.

Now I know exactly when. April 4 at 12:45.
