Take Me Out To The Uniball Game - 2nd Round: The Comic Book Quiz

How about trying these out:

A.

B.

C.

A.

Easy: The “Hob” issue of Sandman during the “Doll’s House” arc around issue 12, by Gainman

B.

Bone, somewhere just prior to the Great Cow Race, by Jeff Smith (and said by Smiley Bone to Phoney Bone)

C.

I have no idea, It sounds like Ambush Bug, but I can’t place it…

Fenris

No, that’s not from Men of Good Fortune (I believe that was the title of Hob’s story.). That’s the introduction to the arc with Delerium and Dream looking for Destruction.

Several of Destruction’s immortal friends got killed off, or sent into hiding because of the search.

Rule #1:
Whenever you think "Gee, I know exactly where that’s from. I’ll even post how easy it was for me to get it, inevitably you’ll be wrong. (This is connected to the rule about how you always misspell a word in a spelling flame)

Anyway, you’re right.

Fenris

::grin::

Rule #2:

On this board it will be pointed out faster than the speed of light.

That’s the very first quote in this thread I was able to definitively identify, so I’m vewwy happy to have gotten a chance.

Tengu got A correct!

Fenris got B correct!

I know C is a very difficult… perhaps I should have posted a longer quote… should I give a hint?

Bacchus?

Something with Maxie Zeus from Batman?
Hercules by Bob Layton?
Um…
Perez’s Wonder Woman?
Eddie Cambell did a strip called “Bacchus” I think.
er…
Mike Allered’s Madman?
The Mighty Hercules cartoon show (the one with the annoying satyr)

Perez’s War of the Gods?
Something from Thor?
um…
I’ve got it! It’s SO obvious!

It’s from the lost Sugar and Spike go to Mount Olympus story arc by Sheldon Mayer! Right!!?

<grumble>
I give.

Fenris

Sorry, Fenris, I screwed that one up :frowning:

Here’s a longer quote, same title, same character:

(the same character is speaking the whole time and he then kills the peasant, of course.)

And maybe one more to keep us going:

NO NO NO NO NO!!!
Its from Usagi Yojimbo. Its the demon possesed Jei

A madman, am I? As an emissary of the gods, I set the standards for sanity in the world.

speaking to first Usagi (the initial quote)

A cold winter’s day… An improverished peasant such as yourself, found a serpent almost frozen on a mountain path. Taking pity on the thing, he wrapped it in his tattered coat and carefully carried it into his home. He warmed it in front of his meager fire and fed it what poor fare he could provide and it gradually grew in strength… until, finally the snake was restored to its full health. Then the serpent turned on him, driving its deadly poison deep into his body. “Why?!” asked the peasant in disbelief. “I saved you! Gave you the best I had! Is this how you show your gratitude?!”
“Why does it surprise you?” replied the viper, “It is my nature. You knew what I am when you rescued me!”

and then the peasant.

“V is for Vendetta.”

Vendetta was the inhabitant of cabin number 41, as I remember.

The Raven got C!

As far as I know the last quote I posted does not appear in “V for Vendetta,” but I haven’t read that one. The number is the big clue though…

Damn, I just remembered that V was the man in room 5. Blast…

Sorry, I guess that last one was too obscure :frowning: It was from Katsuhiro Otomo’s Akira, Tetsuo is number 41.

That should be pretty easy. He says this in almost every issue.

(Hint: there were only six issues, plus half-a-dozen specials that followed).

I’m not a big Marshall Law fan, but even I got this one toot sweet.

I’d toss out a quote or three, but all my stuff is in the back of the closet…

Green Hornet?

Marc

Just saw this tread and had to hop in with one some of my favorite quotes:

  1. **The man in the doorway is silent, but his silence speaks volumes. "I am not what I was before the silence says. I am anger. I am madness. I AM ***. And God help you if you get in my way."

  2. Heh. Those ninjas. Thery’re wacky.

  3. I Waste 'im with my crossbow!

I thought it was for a while there.

I dunno about #1, but #2 I’m guessing is from The Tick.

#3 I’m sure is from KoDT.

#2 is indeed from the Tick, and #3 is, of course, KoDT!
