“Authoritarians want government to advance society and individuals through expert central planning. They often doubt whether self-government is practical. Left-authoritarians are also called socialists, while fascists are right-authoritarians.”
How appropriate for my 2nd favorite bumper sticker:
“It’s a Control-Freak Thing I Won’t Let You Understand”
Good point, and my intention is not to lock people into a set of beliefs. But it is food for thought, and is making me question why do I shun the label “liberal” if that is where the bulk of my beliefs lie? Is it because the term "liberal’ has been borrowed, co-opted, hijacked (unfortunate term these days) so that it has lost it’s true meaning? Oops, there I go. I wanted to keep this out of GD and just be a fun poll.
Is it of any significance that a plurality of the people taking this quiz come down as Libertarian, even when the thing is scored with a centrist bias? Does that say any thing about the sort of people who wile away their time taking personality tests on the Internet?
Yes, the “results so far,” that is the 1,000,000 who have taken it include people who have taken it more than once, people who give various answers to see what kind of result they get…I would’t take the “results so far” very seriously.
Left Liberal here. I’m not really surprised, but one or two of the questions I had to think about for a second because I wasn’t sure where I stood. So I answered based mainly on my gut feeling.
“Drug laws do more harm than good. Repeal them”
“Military service should be voluntary. (No draft)”
“Minimum wage laws cause unemployment. Repeal them.”
“End taxes. Pay for services with user fees.”
A lot of these things have two statements on which a person may be divided on. A person may think minimum wage laws cause unemployment, but still think they should be in place anyway. Pretty bad test, if you ask me.
