Tales From The Bark Side: A Dog MMP

I had an empty salad dressing bottle (that went through the dish washer today), so I made some home-made salad dressing.

½ cup olive oil
⅓ cup balsamic vinegar
Minced garlic
Sun-dried tomatoes, roughly minced

Afternoon all. Refereed at 8:30 as agreed, game went well and it was ‘only’ 84F by the end, then stuck around and watched a couple of games (brought a folding chair). Stopped to eat at a local burger place, hadn’t been there in some time, remembered the reason shortly after (don’t care for their food). Nappage followed, and I’ll still try to mow at least the front yard this evening (it’s still 89F at 5:30pm).

A happy Father’s Day to all.

Have read all but retained little, must have sunburned too many braincells. Everyone have a good evening and I’ll catch all y’all tomorrow.

The elephant ears have been planted! Do you know that I live on a rock? I tried to spade and had a couple of rocks about an inch down. By the time that I got to two inches, it was all rock and I couldn’t spade any more of it. Good thing that I had an extra bag and a half of garden soil.

Otherwise, I’ve been futzing around in the studio, doing Sunday chores and checking the gumbo periodically (I’m eating it now. 'Tis good!).

Howdy Y;all! We deheathenated. I read without major oopsies, so yay for me! The lesson I read is particulary long, but no big strange words so there’s that. The lesson for anyone who is interested. McN.O.L. was had and afternoon sloth ensued. Oh, and we got Father’s Day presents, a roll of duct tape each, a card, and two little packages of cookies each, Oreos and Chips Ahoy. Who doesn’t need duct tape and cookies!

Just poking my head in to say hello. I have nothing to report, mundane or otherwise, but I do so enjoy reading all your posts.

This would be a good name for an Imperial IPA with honey.

: pokes nellie :

Took the MG down to Drayton Harbor Oyster Company for beer and grilled oysters (‘simple’, and blue cheese-and-bacon). Back toward home then cruised Birch Bay State Park. Speed limit is 25 (too slow). People ahead of me were driving 15-20 mph. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Came home and SWMBO decreed I would get the portable a/c out of her canopy shed. Hooked it up, and it feels good. It’s 80ºF outside.

Actually, I am going to report something. Today I ordered a copy of Hailstones and Halibut Bones, a wonderful book of colors and poetry I highly recommend for anyone with grandchildren (or children) 3 or over. My mother used to read it to me. She loved it. I loved it. My daughter loved it.

When my daughter went off to college, her father sold everything in her bedroom, including most of her childhood books, without telling her he was going to do so. (I did think to grab some when I left him the year before.) And of course he kept the proceeds. So I ordered a new copy and will inscribe this one, too.

I can’t make my kids’ father into a better dad, even on Father’s Day. But I can focus, as i did when they were growing up, on giving them as happy a life as possible. Hence the book. I feel like I’m applying a bandage to a wound.

I’m sorry if this isn’t the usual MPSIMS subject matter, but you’re the most understanding people I know, so I thought I’d share.

Hahahahahahahahaha! (I’m ticklish.)

You guys, I’m still verklempt about this.

Okay, so, we had a Father’s Day special today - free pre-roll (joint) for pretty much anyone who mentions the deal - and tons of dads came in to take advantage.
Cool, cool. I heard lots of tales of who has what variety of children.

One guy said, “I’m a new father.”

I look up, he holds up his arm … he still has the HOSPITAL BRACELET as in, he was a brand new daddy. As of a couple of hours.

I made him say his newborn baby girl’s name a couple of times, so he could practice.

Apology rejected.

This is why we’re here, to rally 'round each other.

(Skip to the 2:30 point for the “verklempt” reference.)

@nelliebly, what shoe said.

Caught up on all the swim trials that I dvr’d this week then watched the thrilling 50 meter Finals this evening Live. The men swim the entire 50 meters without taking a breath.

Was going to go with doggio’s suggestion of 5pm mass but our daughter called about 4:30 and the 3 of us talked until about 5:15. So then I hurriedly made myself presentable and put on some church-going clothes and went to 6pm mass which was very sparsely attended.

Sup was shrimp cocktail, my leftover cannelloni for me and grilled chicken thighs for my husband then southern pecan pie with vanilla ice cream for dessert.

Sweet dreams everyone.
